If that chemical attack happened, then as the leader of The Western World, damned right you should step in.

I dunno. I’m all for saving humanity, but where do you draw the line? Crimes against humanity happen daily.

Heck Yemen’s Getting fucked over atm because Saudi Arabia is bombing it and what have you. Should the western world step in there too?

Imo there needs to be consistency. I understand why there isn’t any (I mean I only have a Master’s degree in international relations and am an internationally published geopolitical analyst) but I’m not comfortable with picking and choosing when it’s right to step in for humanitarian reasons.

Note - This strike was done for geopolitical rather than humanitarian reasons. They just needed a good enough reason to strike so it didn’t look blatantly geopolitical

You already know far more than I do about this situation so I'll politely bow out. I'm in limbo at the moment being from the UK in the US and not really knowing exactly what's going on with either. I could have voted in the UK Brexit as an absentee but didn't because I'm really not informed enough. I've always been staunch conservative though every time I've voted back home.

But all this Russian collusion right?! They're at loggerheads right now.
(I say as someone who really disliked Trump till today)

Will geopolitically, Russia and the US have always been rivals. The Syria situation is the epicentre if that rivalry atm

Why would Assad use chemical weapons?
Cui bono, who profits?

Assad is already winning his civil war. Who profits from a chemical attack that gives the US and Europe a reason to launch missles?

The US backed rebels profit, politically Trump profits, anyone who wants to maintain instability in the region profits.

So it's a very good question, why would Assad use chemical weapons.
