Mini Monster's Poll S18/2018

The teams are a side game played at the same time as the regular Monster's Pick 'em game. The same scores are used. The score for each team is the average score of all team members, weighted by number of fights picked in case someone misses a fight.

In Season 17, we played Champs (a.k.a. Team Lone Wolf) vs. Chumps and regional teams Canada, Kazakhstan, USA, and NY/NJ.

The first and last place regional teams both had only 3 members.

Ok, do we want to play teams again? Do we think there should be a minimum number of players on a team higher than 3? Let's decide.

If there is any real interest in having the team captains, we could do the draft automatically based on scores for the first event. Lmk.

I like teams.
Pondering how that should go, I thought having 2 or 4 teams would be best.

How do you get competetive, with as close as possible to a 50/50 split, to make calculating the winner easier and also encouraging participation?

How about picking a topic passionate to almost all MMA fans, which almost all MMA fans have an opinion on?
The MMA GOAT (if there is such a thing, for the sake of argument & the game)

For instance, there are generally 4 fighters considered in the MMA Mt. Rushmore.
Fedor Emelianenko
Jon Jones
George St.Pierre
Anderson Silva

Maybe we could do an amalgam of those names for teams, voting first for 2-person combos, or singles if we get close to 25% evenly.
For Instance:

Team Fedor St.Pierre(Team Gi)
Team Spider Jones(Team No Gi)

or

Team Emperor
Team Old School(Vovchanchyn, Royce, Penn, etc.)
Team Jones, St.Pierre, or Silva, etc.

I think this would be fun & competetive.

I personally like all the ideas. The item with the next highest vote count is to have teams by the era in which you became an mma fan, with a whopping 3 votes. So here's my plan:

Season 18 - mma era
Season 19 - goats
Season 20 - auto draft based first event scores teams for the top 3 scorers of Season 19 -- which should give a little more motivation to people during the dry season of Season 19 a.k.a. August.

Meanwhile, until we do regional teams again, NY/NJ reigns supreme.

Tuf Noobs(started watching post tuf until 2010)

Brock Bitches(started watching in 2010 until 2015)

Conor Cucks(started watching in 2015 or later)


There will be a spot/instructions in the event 2 template for you to let us know your team.

The game is just picking fight winners. It's free. You should play a season or two. People jump in and out all the time.

I think when you considered yourself a fan. I first watched mma several years before I became a fan, but when I really got into it was probably the beginning of the Brock Bitches era, so that's the team I will be on.
