The injury bug has reared its ugly head once again—this time targeting International Fight Week and wiping Brad Tavares from the Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale.
According to UFC President Dana White, the No. 8-ranked middleweight Tavares (17-4, 12-4 UFC) suffered a broken foot in training and had to remove himself from his headlining matchup against rising star Israel Adesanya (13-0, 2-0 UFC).
White broke the news in an interview with TMZ on Thursday afternoon.
The plan going forward is to keep Adesanya in that main event slot, according to White.
“We’re looking to put someone new in there with this kid,” said White. “I’m excited about him.”
