I wish I didn't have dodgy weird elbows, I was really really good at playing tennis but my serve was fucked because of my elbows. I managed to play for the county once but they always held me back.

I was good at long jump, high jump, triple jump, sprinting and other long limbed sports in school but there was nothing I loved more than playing tennis.

This sparked my thought process. What a knob.

Tall players are always going to suffer more injuries playing tennis. Look at guys like Juan Martin Del Potro, who's 6'7". Meanwhile the two greatest tennis players of all time, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, are both 6'1", which is taller than average but not extremely tall.

Look at Venus Williams on the women's side. Compare her to her sister Serena. Venus is 6'1", insanely tall for a woman, and has been plagued by injuries throughout her career.

Meanwhile Serena is 5'9" and is, imo, the unequivocal greatest female tennis player to ever live.

I could shoot the lights out, averaged 24 points a game in 8th grade. I was at a small school and led them to an undefeated championship season. When I got to high school the coach told me I’d have made the team if if was truly an open tryout but the team was already determined based off the incoming players from the city’s big jr high school. Reality was I just wasn’t tall enough and a bit to slow to play good enough defense to really advance to a higher level.

To answer the question in the title, baseball. Specifically, a pitcher. It's the only sport I could be at the top of well into my 40s, and it's the sport I'd be able to make the most money from.

Even when I was playing at least 5 times a week, I could never get into women's tennis. I know I'm letting that gender down a bit, but I just couldn't get into it, even when I had posters of tennis players all over my walls in the Steffi Graf era.
I thought the Williams sisters were way Amazonian and a boat load taller than that.

How tall are you?

I was ridiculous for my age but there were other people who were good at net games in my year who didn't have the height advantage I had.

I’d say golf. Even though I’m just now getting really into playing and learning it, I picked it up as a kid because of Tiger. I struggled with a slice and it was discouraging because there were no schools or courses near me to really practice and get good at it. I’ve remained a fan and have really picked it back up. Fixed the slice and am learning how to shape shots and working on the short game. I’m actually installing a simulator when I move into the new house.

The area I lived in wasn’t really into golf and was more of a baseball community. I played baseball from age 5 through my senior year in high school. Played summer ball and all-stars, fall ball, travel ball, school ball... whatever baseball I could fit into a year without overlapping schedules and time for camps.

So I excelled in baseball and didn’t like it and loved golf a fucking sucked at it
