If you like real life Mafia stuff, I'm in the midst of Ep 01 & its great.
Told from all sides.

The special interviews Peter and Angel Gotti, but also goes outside the family to talk with criminal defense lawyer Ron Kuby, FBI agents, and U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin, who presided over several of Gotti’s trials. But most of the information comes from John Jr., who may have saved himself from the same fate that put his dad at the head of the Gambino crime family. As much as he grew up in his father’s, sometimes literal, shadow, John Jr., could never be as “street” as his father. He was the son of the boss, and grew up in relative affluence compared to John Joseph Gotti, who was one of thirteen kids growing up in the South Bronx, the East New York section of Brooklyn and running the Fulton-Rockaway Boys out of Queens.

My dad wakes up for work at 4am. He was still awake at 10pm, watching this. I was shocked. It was super interesting, the bit I watched with him, and I definitely think John Jr. put everything out there for them. It seemed as if he was being extremely honest and truthful with everything he said.

I liked the part where the son was talking to John about getting closure on something and John said something like, "Only dumb over educated motherfuckers use that goddamn word!"

I just finished it & it fn killed (pun)

They referenced the Gotti MMA fighter in the last 10 minutes
Funny thing is Junior saying he didn't want that dangerous of a lifestyle for him (MMA)

As someone who lived in Howard Beach for a bit & from NYC & knowing a LOT of those types, this was pretty fair to all sides.
Although Jr. was a big punk for a few years (around the bar fight story) & that was downplayed, but he went through the faze & got out of it

I thought of you immediately when I heard about it. John Tavolta’s wife, from what I’ve seen in clips is killing it.
You are talking the movie that is not released
This was not a movie, but a 4hr bio that was released

I do have some slimy info on the film though & why it took so long.

I'll make it a separate post

The Gotti Film with Travolta was/is a money grab

The producer only produced one film prior to this & that was a film 10+ years ago starring ... STUTTERING JOHN MELENDEZ

The scam was they would give anybody a "producer" credit that brought in X-Amount of money.
In return for the investment, they get credit, set access & bragging rights.
The piece of the film is minuscule & will never get recouped.

The reason Cassavettes & major studios baled/dropped out was how sketchy the books were.

But they guaranteed Travolta & Gotti Jr. an amount & it took about 5 years to reach it.
it was filmed rather quickly & cheaply

but a bunch of goomba wanna-be's can tell people "Yo Ima Pra-doo-sa"

There are like 25 main producers on it lol

But I did hear JT is great as Ghotti

Update ...
FORTY-THREE main producers
That does not include all the minority investors that chipped in

Good crikey.

I'll watch it later. I don't tend to have a great amount to do with A&E but this looks really good.
Remember its not the film, but bio & its great
As someone who is local & knows a few players, its very fair storytelling
Only thing (as I mentioned) was Jr was a lot more of a bully in his twenties than portrayed, but he changed his ways, so its all good.

I'll have to check this series out

lol@ the gotti movie with Travolta. Gotti would roll around in his grave if he knew he was being played by a finocchio!
