In addition to a new broadcasting partner, the deal lines Bellator's pockets with cash to potentially entice new talent. Both Mousasi and MacDonald were recent free-agent acquisitions from the UFC, and Coker promised Bellator will continue to aggressively pursue those types of names.

I think it depends on who they decide to lowball. I could totally see them lowballing the fuck out of The Korean Zombie, for instance, and then Bellator offers him $100,000 per fight flat with elevators.

Sadly, I have no real way of (legally) watching Bellator these days. I'm not paying $13 / mo. so I can see 8 Bellator shows a year, and cable just isn't worth it anymore (maybe YouTube TV might work if they get a few more decent channels).

@FrankieNYC, Lyoto just said that he chose bellator over ufc even after ufc matched bellator's offer. How does that work if a matching clause is in effect? Going back to sponsorships, I would have to think it does indeed play a roll.
