I'm a rousy fan but its becoming obvious cyborg is her only threat and she seems to want to avoid it at all costs.
Your right, cyborg is avoiding it at all costs. There is only one thing she has to do and she isn't doing it. If that isn't avoidance I don't know what is.

Why is that funny? Ronda said she was going to drop down to 135 lbs and did it. Cyborg was asked to drop down to 135 lbs around the same time, said she would try and never did, then got busted for steroids, came back and said she could make 135 lbs, then said her doctors told her she would die if she tried, then said she could make 135 but never did and now she says she can make 135. 4 years later she's still just talking about it. I can understand why the UFC is a little bit skeptical and wants to see her successfully make the weight before giving her a title shot.
Actually no cyborg was the 145 champ and Ronda was dropping to 135 to fight tate as a warm up fight. To see if she was ready to fight the real champ. Cyborg has never said or wanted to fight at 135 until Ronda refused to go back up and fight her.

Name another great champ that would refuse to fight a fighter 10lbs heavier.

GSP, there ya go. Its not the 5 or 10 pounds. Its that , 145-lets even say 150 is ronda's walk weight. Cyborg is 175. So borg cuts to 145 then packs all the weight back on while ronda is at the same. How is that remotely fair. I don't get the people saying "it's just" it's not just, not even close.

OK so cyborg is to big to make 135 then a true champ should meet the challenge. Gsp never really turned it down. Was the Anderson fight really ever a reality knowing the ufc had no intention of having one of there champs loose. I have no doubt gsp would welcome a 177 catch weight with Anderson. But that is all speculation. The Ronda refusal is reality.

No, GSP didn't want a catch weight, he knew that he would need time to get up to par and put the weight on so he could cut just like the bigger guy. He said that many a time when a super fight was mentioned. What is a true champ? What about being a true challenger? If borg wanted to test herself against the best she would cut the weight and fight. Why is she not being a true challenger that is hungry to prove herself? Oh, we know why. Borg wants the 175 weight advantage, ronda wants her advantage. Each has their own reasons but borg has no leverage other than people parroting "its just". If borg really wanted to challenge herself she would make the move. She is not.

Did Anderson challenge gsp to a fight 4 months down the line at some point that I missed? I think the smaller fighter claiming to be the baddest fighter on the planet is comical. She is the best at 135 and under while cyborg is the best at 145 and over.if they never fight that is how it will be.

That's not true and I can prove it. This article was published before Cyborg's title defense in December of 2011. The one in which she got busted for steroids. Ronda didn't win the 135 lb title until March 3rd of 2012. The UFC asked Cyborg to drop down to 135 lbs because they didn't want to keep the 145 lb division, due to it being too shallow. Not only does she say she will try to drop down to 135 lbs back in 2011, but she admits it will be good for her because there's not enough fighters at 145 lbs to keep her active. All of this was at least 4 months before Ronda won the title.

Also, disregard the author's stupid comments at the end, although the one about Kenny Florian was sorta funny.A link to the article is at the bottom.

In an interview she did this week with TATAME, Strikeforce featherweight champ Christiane Santos
revealed a bit of insight into the plans the promotion has for its women’s division. According to “Cyborg",
the Zuffa-owned organization has asked her to drop down to 135 following her December 17 title defense against Hiroko Yamanaka as they are looking to do away with the 145-pound class since they can’t find anyone to face her. On the bright side, Santos says she’s lucky that Strikeforce is accommodating the women on its roster considering UFC president Dana White’s thoughts on female MMA.

“I signed the contract for these four fights after UFC purchased Strikeforce, so I guess they’ll keep us, they’ll keep the female divisions and female MMA keeps growing and growing, and I guess they’re keeping the girls and it depends on what we do to call UFC’s attention,” Santos explains. “[As of right now there] are still two weight divisions: 135lbs and 145lbs.”

The 26-year-old Brazilian, who already cuts a massive amount of weight to make 145, says she’ll have her work cut out for her dropping another 10 pounds, but she’s willing to give it a shot if it means keeping her job.

“It’s already hard for me to drop to 145lbs, I gotta work a lot and they’re thinking about one division only. They asked me if I could do it. I can try; it’s not impossible. Let’s see… I guess that in the future there’ll be some news,” she predicts. “It’ll be hard because I got a lot of weight to lose, but it’d be good because I could fight more. I guess it’s important to keep active, it’s my job, so I’ll try it to stay here.”

In other news, the whole Strikeforce women’s 135-pound division announced today that it will be dropping to 125.

I say put Cris in with some of the men her size and see how she does if they can’t find women to fight her. The only problem with that plan that is they’d probably give Kenny Florian an immediate title shot at the new unisex belt.

GSP did turned down the fight and the reason he gave was Silva is fuckin huge.

GSP on possibly fighting Anderson: "He weighs 234 pounds; I weigh 188. So there’s a big weight difference. I’ve fought guys who were bigger. I’m not scared of him, it’s just that I will take this fight when it makes sense for me."

And while we're at it,
Anderson on possibly fighting Jones: “No way. [Jones] is in another weight class."

Again show me where jones and silva are making the challenge and agreeing to a catch weight .

So she said she would try 135 to keep her job how shocking. Here is the article about Rousy not ready for cyborg and wanting a fight before fighting her. Saying how small she looks in person and the fight must happen at any weight possible.

Silva was repeatedly asked about moving up to fight Jones and he always refused, yet fought in Jones's weight class several times. Instead he was calling out GSP, who he had a significant size advantage. See the pattern? A fighter refusing to fight the champion in a weight class above and instead calling out the champion a weight class below.

Ok. I already know this. She wanted to fight Cyborg as a champion versus champion because it would draw more interest. It made sense at the time and that 145 lb fight was planned for late June/early July of 2012. But then Cyborg got suspended for steroids, the UFC junked the 145 lb division and here we are still debating what ifs.

The best part of this debate is people holding on to the notion that Cyborg cannot make 135, and Rousey needs to move up to make the fight possible.

so is your point the lighter fighter is generally afraid to fight the bigger fighter? Those fights were nothing more than media hype and were never going to happen.

I'm a huge Ronda and cyborg fan a 140lb catch weight is how this should go down. What the UFC wants aside Ronda as the most famous women's fighter should come out and say she will fight at 140 tomorrow and will forfeit the belt if necessary to make the fight that has to happen. Leave it up to the UFC to not do the fight. Refusing a catch weight looks weak to me and that goes for any hypothetical matchup ever with any fighter. Can you imagine Fedor saying he would only fight Bigfoot at 225 or couture telling Brock 220 or no fight. I realize that is heavyweight but 5 lbs is 5 lbs.

The difference between us is I want to see the fight at any weight and don't care who wins. You want it at 135 and Ronda to win.

I don't know if it's the best thing about it. It's certainly the most nonsensical thing about it though. Anyone with knowledge of basic physiology knows muscle atrophies if not used or in Cyborg's case, maintained. Anyone that says she can't lose 10 lbs of muscle is not being intellectually dishonest. The honest argument for not losing the muscle mass is she doesn't want to lose the weight and strength advantage she currently enjoys.

Really don't want to stay on this much longer but is it only 10lbs or could you also lose 20 or 30 lbs. could Conner make 125 or Cormier make 170? I'm not a weight loss expert so not sure.

That's the crux of the issue. Cyborg said in a recent interview she didn't want to cut down to 135 lbs and not be the same Cyborg. Does skill erode with weight loss? Is she going to forget how to punch if she loses 10 lbs? Hell no. What's she saying is she won't be the same without the size advantage. That's a real fear if you've spent your entire career enjoying that advantage. Lord help us if she can't weigh 15 lbs more than someone she's fighting.

Neither of them spent years juicing and powerlifting to get to an incredibly unnatural weight class. The closest thing to Cyborg I can think of is Paulo Filho on an insane amount of gear, competing at LHW when he had the natural size of a WW. Cyborg is the WMMA version of early 2000s Chute Boxe fighters.

First off, we are talking about a woman that's 5'8" and a shredded 175 lbs. The first thing we need to acknowledge is it's not natural for a woman to have as much muscle mass as her without actively maintaining it. Dolce said he could get her down to 135 lbs in a month and it's the truth. Anybody who lifts weights knows if you stop lifting for any significant amount of time you get weaker because muscles atrophy. Muscle isn't permanent if you don't maintain. This is really basic.

I am sick of hearing about this women. Been 3+ years already, either get to 135, win some fights in the UFC then get a title shot. Otherwise stfu, people are growing apathetic. The fact she hasn't in that time shows she doesn't plan too and is just trying to get a fight via annoyance.

Rousey doesn't need her. The UFC doesn't need her. I would say majority of UFC fans don't even know who she is. She is the one that needs Rousey, that needs the UFC.

Ronda doesn't want to make concessions for a past cheat, and at this point, she doesn't have to. That really is the end of the discussion. If Cyborg wants the fight she can come to Rousey, it's just how it is.
