Meltzer: UFC frustrated with Conor's lack of promotion for Khabib fight

One of the reasons you haven’t seen much in the way of interviews and such is that McGregor has not agreed to do anything.
There are no press conferences scheduled because McGregor at this point hasn’t agreed to them.
There is a lot of frustration within the UFC about McGregor’s attitude, but in the end, he’s got the leverage and the ticket sales and secondary market results only give him more leverage.
The feeling is that this may be the biggest non-boxing PPV of all-time, and the only reason it wouldn’t be is that McGregor hasn’t been pushing it hard. McGregor was able to get a larger piece of the action for this fight than any of his UFC fights to date, so there is a direct correlation more than ever between his work in promoting the fight and his pocket book, but this may also show that he knows he’s in a real fight and doesn’t want to break training.

In the past Conor has talked about how he doesn't get his money dropped in, how he walks out with a check. I know you've mentioned he got $10 million flat for the second Nate fight.

That was canceled & he made a rumored $15m with PPV points.

He is also in a unique position in that if he gets mauled by Khabib he will lose a lot of his leverage. I personally think that he should be required to do the press that others do, but I understand why he would want to stay in the gym and practice take down defense.

Agreed. People are also forgetting that he spent a very significant amount of time focusing on his boxing pre-Mayweather. This is the same guy who was already one of the best strikers in the UFC. He picked Alvarez apart on the feet before raising his boxing game. I imagine his accuracy/angles/hand-speed are now all a level better than before. Khabib will need to get a takedown quickly each round or it might be nighty-nite for the eagle.
