"Innocent until proven guilty" is the bedrock cornerstone of the criminal justice system.

So prior to these allegations, what was it you didn't like about him?
I would still be in his corner if he had said "Just like everyone else, I'm a different person today than i was in my younger days. As I look back on those days now that I'm an adult, I did some things I'm not particularly proud of. And while I would occasionally partake in youthful shenanigans, at no point did I ever force myself on any female. Ever. That's not who I was. That's not who I am."

Had he said that, I'd still be backing him.

And the fact that the Republicans didn't prep him better than this is a little embarrassing. Deny, deny, deny isn't always the best course of action.

So what exactly was the straw that broke the camel's back?

For me it was the lies along with the partisan defense at his testimony. The other bedrock of the judicial system is justices that suppress their own feelings and opinions to uphold the law. He's fully tainted himself by both the PR white lies, but then doubling down with such an outburst that even the Bar association has revoked their judicial backing of him.
It is totally inappropriate, even if he feels his nomination is partisan, to act the way he has. He's acting like a politician with a base, not a justice on the highest court.

I didn't know him before. I didn't like the way he handled himself under pressure. That would be a requirement for the job, I'd assume.

I've covered that. He's trying to spin a different story. He was a skirt-chasing frat boy. Who cares? Own it. Don't feed me some shit about living at the library and trying to explain away shit like "the devils triangle", "beach week ralph club", "boof" and "renate alumnus".

I'm completely discounting the alleged sexual assault as I have no idea what happened there. His denial during the questioning was convincing. For me, it was the other shit he stumbled on.

Guilty or innocent, it seems like he's been forever tainted. Why not just be totally upfront about the drinking and partying? That doesn't in itself link you to being a sexual predator or suggest that you wouldn't be fit for the gig.

Can Trump pull the plug and nominate someone else at this point?

not really
The investigation into a new selection would take about 2 months. Thats the reasons the Dems made these fake accusations. They want trump to pull him then win congress and remove his pick.

Funny to see how hyper partisanship in the "media" (I use that term lightly, in this case) twists and misrepresents facts.

He never made the remark against "Kavanaugh opponents". He said he believed some Kavanaugh opponents were acting in good faith and just wanted to get the truth. The "no soul/not breast fed/straight to raw meat" quip was said jokingly to insinuate how some were acting like animals, not caring who they destroyed just so long as they won.

I guess this is more of that 4D chess you're playing, to expose the folly of other posters... or... something? lol

It's a bad look to be mocking someone who is testifying about alleged sexual assault/attempted rape. I mean I get speculating that she's lying and it's a political stunt, but mocking how her voice sounds ehhh, you're not going to come out looking good there.
