Bellator has, for the last several years, been scooping up every notable potential top prospect in MMA, often with no experience, just as soon as they can get them. A string of elite collegiate wrestlers, women boxers and kickboxers, and other unique talents, any one of whom might just pan out to be the ‘next big thing.’ At featherweight, at least, that plan seems to have been a resounding success.

Aaron Pico and AJ McKee Jr. have quickly separated themselves from the pack as elite competitors on their way up the division. Pico, especially, has thrilled – overcoming a harsh debut setback to bulldoze increasingly tougher competition,…

Would like to see Aaron have at least two more fights before making that jump. Think he can win it but more seasoning is always a good thing.

Maybe, but I wasn't sure he was ready for Higo either. Pico ran him over.

Yea I had a funny feeling it was gonna be a bit too soon. Think I'm just cautious after the way UFC tried to thrust sage up the ladder too early

We touched on this Tuesday on The Coast to Coast Combat Hour/Blogboard Jungle.
Of course Pico is saying what he said to Patricio, but it's possible he's speaking not just for himself, but for AJ.
Coker will do what he will do, but Antonio Mckee SR. coaches them both, and he's coached his son to a 12-0 record in Bellator.
If Mckee stays at Featherweight, I don't know how you can justify making Pico/Pitbull quite yet; not before the Mckee's have their crack.
But I'd sure love to see it.

Personally i think Pico wrecks McKee.
Unless they have a massive falling out, they won't fight. McKee probably gets first crack at the winner of Pitbull vs Sanchez. If McKee wins, Pico goes to 135 or 155. If McKee loses, Pico gets next shot.

Pass me whatever you're smoking. Pico is no joke, and will be champion soon.

I agree, but he won't challenge for that title if McKee has it. He's not ducking him- they train together and Pico has said he won't fight him.

I do appreciate the fact that Bellator tends to let prospects work their way up before jumping into the top 5 fights. The UFC seems to push some blue chips guys a little too fast at times.

That being said, Pico vs. Pitbull would be baller
