agreed. great post. The problem is it just comes down to 'trust me'. Sorry, you've lost that trust by previous actions and the information that is out there. Instead of asking for trust, prove it and everyone will shut up. They can stop this argument tomorrow, but they won't, and we all know why.
He and Robin Black were fucking dope on "The SCORE fighting series"Mauro!
Him and Barnett were calling New Japan pro wrestling I caught the other day. Mauro Renallo is underrated. He calls a good game on the mic. Ufc would be privleged to have him around. He and Robin Black were fucking dope on "The SCORE fighting series"
Truth be told I don't mind Anik. My issue with he and Florian is they sound too similar. Certainly not identical, but there are times I don't know who's talking.Him and Barnett were calling New Japan pro wrestling I caught the other day. Mauro Renallo is underrated. I've never felt Florian was anything but an above board guy who, like it or not shoots from the hip. It's much more likely with Kenny being friends with Rory that he would know what he's talking about. When someone uses the quote "knows for a fact" it doesn't make it their opinion but rather they are stating a fact that they do know.Well, it's not a fact. It's Florian's opinion that some checks like that are being cut, but there has been no proof. The largest one I've heard about is 300k to Shane Carwin for the Lesnar fight, which did 1.16mil buys. Boxers often make 7-8 digits headlining fights which do over 1mil buys.
Yes the UFC does have to pay for places like the MGM Grand. Vegas Baby, everyone business wants a piece of the pie.does the ufc really pay to have an event at a place like mgm in vegas? or could that venue just sort of say sure you can have it here and then reap the rewards. I would imagine they do have a large overhead, but with the popularity I can't image it is as much as it was in the early tuf days. Not sure I believe the amount of large checks... seems like that would cut a big chunk out of their profit for the fight. I know it's talked about a lot, and I can see little bonuses, but not big ones that are not specified in contracts. but what do I know, lol
That's all good but I think the sentiment most fans share is...then they need to figure it out, w/out the fighters being the one's that sacrifice financially. i think we can all agree on that, right?Yes the UFC does have to pay for places like the MGM Grand. When someone says, 'knows for a fact', it doesn't make it a fact unless they provide proof, until that proof is proffered it is an opinion. I can believe they may have given $1mil dollar checks, but because they choose to use secrecy to do it, they don't get any credit for it, unless they want to prove it.I've never felt Florian was anything but an above board guy who, like it or not shoots from the hip. I don't know why it would be so hard to believe, even Brendan Schaub was talking about receiving a 100k bonus after a fight. He's never even been close to a Title fight let alone being a Co-Main Title fight that is one of the greatest fights ever on one of the biggest PPV's ever. I just don't see it being so unbelievable.
Guess I was brought up in a world where I tend to believe people until proven otherwise. Just because YOU have an issue with the UFC and the way they pay their fighters does not make Kenny a liar. I have stated before the UFC needs to be upfront with fighter pay and not so secretive, it will give fighters a better base for negotiation which will in turn benefit ALL fighters incomes. It would also help the UFC in how they are viewed by the public. When someone says, 'knows for a fact', it doesn't make it a fact unless they provide proof, until that proof is proffered it is an opinion. Lol, so you are going to insult my upbringing because I don't take, and give credit to, a UFC employee's word on whether or not they hand out million dollar checks. Real cute.Guess I was brought up in a world where I tend to believe people until proven otherwise. Not cute at all, and was not an insult to your upbringing. Was a statement about my own.
Florian knows that their contracts says the UFC does not allow them to tell anyone how much they make. They want everything to be a secret and keep all fighters in the dark.Florian: I want to see fighters get paid more, obviously. There's one thing that is being overlooked though. There's what's shown on the books, and there's a lot of bonuses. It's a lot of money and no one knows about it. That's one thing. Some fighters want it that way, because they don't want people knowing how much they make.
Above board guys don't need to plagiarize other writers imo.I've never felt Florian was anything but an above board guy who, like it or not shoots from the hip. This was always especially hilarious to me. If we're talking significant money at all, people will notice your lifestyle change and hit you up accordingly. Explicit numbers don't matter. The fighters dont want ppl to,know how much they make?
Right...and besides, there is no secret. You cannot keep large sums of money a secret, unless you have ninja-level powers of miserliness. If this is the case why wouldn't they disclose it? Yeah...I know "the fighters don't want anyone to know...blah blah blah"
What's the big secret?
It's the oldest form of employer manipulation. Cut everyone's pay, then issue it back on a performance basis. Or just low-ball it from the get go, and see who lines up to become your favorite monkeys. Why is Rory getting more money in the backroom even seen as a bonus?
I should clarify this, it is possibly Florian's opinion, who knows.Well, it's not a fact. It's Florian's opinion that some checks like that are being cut, but there has been no proof.
