I honestly don't understand how two ladies went backpacking by themselves in a remote part of moroccoo despite the travel warning about kidnapping and terrorist attacks.
It would be bad enough for two ladies to go backpacking in a "safe" country but totally poor decision to do so in unrest portions of Africa.

Those particular people are mad about western meddling in the middle east but i think rapey-murder culture is kind of normal in some areas. If you are a woman and not dressed covering everything and chapperoned by male family member there can be an assumption that you are a prostitute. Different cultures different rules.

It is true that Morocco was on the hippie trail in the sixties, none of this stuff was remotely likely to happen back then.
