So Im thinking about picking up a lever action rifle. Looking to add one of these to my collection. Curious if anyone here owns one. I’m looking at all makes and models and calibers right now. I usually just plink with them. Anyone here own one?

Henry makes a very solid one...I have had both versions of their .22...I had the Golden Boy version and the normal cheaper version
very reliable and the action is smooth and exact
I want to get one again...traded mine for other stuff
I also want the .357 big boy or the .44 big boy
shot a few old winchesters...they are the shit also

they seem really good...but I have only handled older ones...seen and shot some amazing ones but never owned one so can't say for sure
manufacturers are changing quality of models sometimes so I don't know much about current quality
I really want an Old Winchester Pump gallery gun....expensive though....hoping to find one at a garage sale or something
Consensus seems to be that the quality control has slipped over the past several years, so I'd check any Marlin over very closely before buying. Or even better, seek out an older used one that is in good shape.
Don't care much for the lever action. I prefer bolt action. However, any time you buy yourself a gun it's a fun day!
Don't buy the Marlin. You are settling for just having a lever action instead of getting something that's worth the money. I know ammo is a bit more but go for the 45-70 govt.
Didn't hear about any of that. Mine is about 10 years old. Zero issues.

Looks like they got it figured out, but it can take a bit to get your reputation back after a clusterfuck like that.
I have always wanted a lever action and the wife is starting to enjoy it now too so that means I get to spend some $ on it. I just want a small one of everything collection. After the lever I get a 1911 (again). Last one was used and sold it because it was unreliable.
IMI Timberwolf is a pump-action, superFun for plinking.
I went deep on carbines a few years back, settled on the Marlin 1894C. It has a better trigger, and smoother action, than the Win92/94. My friend has a Rossi Puma, very light - but it's hard to mount optics.
Basically, if you want a good balance of price and performance, with an easy upgrade path to a legit competitive CAS lever rifle, you can't beat the Marlin
didn't realize Marlin had been bought by Freedom Group. Bummer.
I got mine in 08, when they were still making them in Connecticut.
choice now would probably be a Henry Big Boy or a Rossi Puma
