A friend I used to hike with started making his own guitars. I lost touch with him for about 20 years and just recently learned of what he's been up to. He owns a piece of land in the middle of Nowhere Appalachia and he builds/repairs acoustic guitars.
Apparently he's making good money doing it, and spends the majority of his days working with wood and listening to music - smoking the occasional joint. He has a few well-known guitarists that have played his guitars.
I live vicariously through him as I wish I lived that life - but I'll always remember the times we were hiking around and playing our own little mini-concerts for whoever would listen.
Great guy.
