Why do people get so mad at flat earthers?

Everything they taught you in public school was a lie. There's a reason why the elite enroll their children into their own private schools.

Friedrich Nietzsche

" The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently."

Flat earth isn't my thing...but hurling insults at someone for their opinion does no good...very few humans share the same opinion on everything

Kron is all good in my book, regardless of his beliefs

Actions are what warrant judgement and ridicule...beliefs and opinions do not

I think it is the right way...my folks were 95% honest with me and I hold nothing back from anyone in any interaction(for better or for worse lol) but at least people know where I stand.

Time with your growing kids is something that you can't get back...Hard to realize this at the time I am sure

An honest family is the best formula IMO...even if it hurts sometimes(your wife was just being honest)

I don't have kids but I would/will do the same if that situation arises in my life.

Far too little truth and honest communication in the world IMO

Just my take as one in 6 billion
7.7 billion now. We gotta colonize space or let half of us die through plague/wars/climate change

Ya I knew it was higher
I just like to say 6 billion...reminds me of the time Mirko won the open weight tournament...coolest MMA poster I have ever seen

Resources are getting stressed for sure...the trash is what concerns me the most...A friend stayed on a small island last year and the current switched and the beach got covered in like 12 inches of garbage(evidently some countries just throw the garbage in the river and it goes out to sea)

it's all perspective. the earth is flat if you are in the desert or on the tundra. of course if you are in outer space it is not.

Space is also not what they told you.

We never went to the moon.
not sure if serious

but yeah this is the hook. Once a person realizes that big lies can/have been told, its a mindfuck to start speculating how many more we may have been told.

I do have issues with NASA and the moon landing, so their credibility is low for me, at least personally. When considering how the most spectacular proofs of a globe model basically all come from NASA I can see how some people might fall right in and start questioning/re-evaluating everything

I respect those who dare to give FE a whirl as a mental exercise, but not those who get stuck there and stubbornly dismiss all the other good reasons that a globe earth is likely what's happening

Those "Scientists" lied to you my friend. People can grow their own food. There's open land everywhere.
One single Dyson Sphere around our Sun (which we could literally start building tomorrow.)
would be so large that every single person would have the back yard the size of Africa.

At best humanity is currently a K.7 of the Khardeshev scale

We haven't tapped even a minuscule amount of the Earth and Suns potential

They can support literally orders of magnitude more people

Over population is largely propaganda, science fiction mixed
in with political propaganda and corporate greed and the
power of "scarcity" in the market place

If everyone in the room is thinking alike then someone isnt thinking - George Patton

One of my favorite quotes. I have no problem when people have different opinions
as I'm usually the one with the odd opinion

I do have a problem with science illiteracy

Saying the Earth is Flat is not an opinion just like saying grass is purple
is not an opinion. Its simply a factually incorrect statement.

Anyone with a half way decent education can do the science and math
it takes to demonstrate the Earth is a Sphere.

Opinions are one thing. Ignorance is another

At minimum 60,000 people worked on the moon landing and a shit load of contractors

All 60,000 people managed to keep it all a secret

Its so laughable.

Most people who state things like that don't even own a telescope. Have never
looked out into the Cosmos and took a look at shit for themselves.

A simple low grade telescope and you can see the damn Space Station yourself
for christ sake.

Whats crazy is that these same people continue to use all the technology
that all these great scientists like Bohr, Newton, Faraday Boyles etc
developed and gave us.

Yet at the same time they say its all a lie.

Then stop using all these liars gadgets and make your own with your
own math formulas and physical laws of discovery

I agree. I'm a firm believer in people being able to say and think what they want

I should be allowed to call him bat shit crazy and science illiterate too though.

He literally called in on a Cell phone to say what he said
when said phone would not function unless the earth was round.

It just cracks me up.

Mah Man! I recall your cosmic infatuation and have thought of getting a telescope my damn self.

I'm old enough to remember when before Google, people could look shit up on Encyclopedias - which we always had in our home.
It is amazing to me that with all our "smart" technology, people are dumber than ever in human history - and are proud to be stupid.

You can literally find the factual answer to anything in the palm of your hand in 6 seconds (including typing the search query).
Yet, here we are. Technology gets smarter, humans get dumber. The mind is truly boggled.

Haha yeah I'm the biggest Astronomy nerd I know. My perfect night is listening to
Gravitational Wave lectures.

You don't need a telescope. Get yourself a pair of Binoculars like Zhumells or Celestons...

A good tripod (all that will set you back maybe $200) and you will be amazed
at what you can see. Jupiter and her moons, Saturn, Venus, Mars, Andromeda Galaxy,
Ring Nebula, Orion Nebula, Eagle Nebula, Space Station and countless other objects

I remember life before Google too... The problem with all this great tech
is that any clown can film a smart sounding video from his couch and spread
mis information that goes viral.

I’ve always liked the videos that show exactly how tiny we are in relation to other stars and planets in the universe. My son showed me this one today and this dude shows it on a scale that’s a little easier to wrap your head around.
