talked to a friend who used to be in the Indian AF.

he says the Pakistanis flew some F16s over J&K, so the Indians put up a MiG-29 and MiG-21.
The Pakistani F16s saw the MiGs, and split.
The MiGs pursued, and the MiG-21 was shot down by SAMs.

He posted you an article that says specifically that the ratio in the title 'should be taken with a grain of salt'. The ratio tells us literally nothing without actually knowing the details, which they won't share.

There's a lot of bullshit that comes with F-35 reporting because it has cost not only the US but vassal countries like mine an arm and a leg, so there's a lot at stake in hyping up its performance. That doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't actually effective though.

It's only been used twice in combat afaik, first by Israel to bomb sites in Syria and second by the U.S. in either Afghanistan or Iraq/Syria. But like you said, the secretiveness of it's real efficacy means that we know nothing.

Apparently it's supposed to be 95-100% as good as the F-22, a jet which is no longer made (because it was ridiculously expensive to make) and was only ever available to the U.S. military. If we can believe people (some Australian) saying that the F-22 was "the best fighter jet ever made" then it definitely gives us hope that the hype surrounding the F-35 is real.

I know the details. The article covers it enough. F35 Is the best the west has.
