What do you astronomers make of that the sun and moon are both the same relative size in the sky as seen from the ground?

Coincidence or divine design?

Also if I may pick your brains on some other dumb questions;

Moon is 1/6 gravity of earth, no?

So why does this:

look like a heck of a lot more than 6x this:

?

(nice camera work on that 2nd gif btw)
Because the Although the Sun is much larger its also much further away
from you the observer

From far enough away you can take your thumb and cover an entire mountain
in the back ground your thumb of course is no where near the size of the mountain

I cant comment on gifs. Don't know how they were made or tampered with
or in what context they were made

You misunderstand, I get WHY they look the same size from our vantage

I'm tripped that this happens though. Seems like astronomical odds (no pun intended) that 2 bodies of such vastly different size and distance are so perfectly situated that they appear the same size for us! Like almost exactly the same size?

I think that's weird, either a comic-sized coincidence or a cosmic-sized synchronicity

Ahh I see what you are saying

I never even thought of it that way. I wonder if there is a mathematical law
at play there. Who knows. Thats why the Cosmos is so fascinating to study

I'm no scientist but honestly can't see science or astronomy chalking this up to anything but absolute freak coincidence.

And yet, there they are.

Here's a thought experiment. Given infinite time almost any occurrence
becomes a statistical certainty and not just a coincidence.

Give me infinite time and I'll whoop Jon Jones ass on the same day
that Ronda finds the right circumstances and whoops Cain.

Of course under normal conditions that situation would be a huge fluke
and giant coincidence but when you give it infinite time it becomes a statistical
certainty at some point

I disagree. That's how they explain evolution, lol

whoops - 'NOTHER TOPIC! :D :D

PS; also a lame excuse for the sun/moon thing. I know you're just playing with thoughts though

seems like a get out jail free card to me, science can play at anytime to sweep shit under the rug, chalk it up to grand time statistical odds and certainties etc

Haha is it?

I know thats how star formation is explained
like we 'know' how stars are formed, lol

some good guesses perhaps based off microscopic scraps of data. Astronomy is amazing and admirable but I think a strong dose of humity is desperately needed. IMHO most folk in this field come off way too confident/arrogant in their models when we've barely scratched the surface

Hmm... Star formation is pretty well understood. You can even calculate
models and predict star formation quite accurately.

Input certain atoms, molecules, gasses, densities, pressures, and temperatures and mathematical
models will spit out quite precise star formation

Its also far from microscopic data. Its gigs upon gigs upon gigs of data

The thing about the scientific community that I don't think people outside
academic circles understand is that the way you become successful is proving
all your fellow scientists wrong.

Its a constant cycle of 50 scientists checking 1 scientists work with the soul mission
of proving his research wrong so when there is a consensus agreement the
data set has to be quite large and over whelming

Star and Planet Formation

The Formation of Clusters of Stars and Brown Dwarfs

Some of our best scientific minds

Note how they all argue with each other. Practically none are in agreement and all
are trying their best to prove the others work wrong. The idea that these guys
are all gonna agree to try to fool the world just sounds crazy

They wont even agree on the definition of infinity so when a data set becomes
so overwhelming that they all are forced to agree on something its pretty darn solid

This may piss some people off, but I don't care what flat earthers think. For the love of Christ, block me if you want. I have no desire to engage with you people.

IMO, Kron & flat earthers, moon hoaxers, conspiratards, etc. are just contrarians and intellectual hipsters. Some of it is attention whoring & a cheap, backward-assed type of virtue signaling to other "free thinkers". It's a sad, desperate attempt to be edgy & pick bullshit cyber-fights about ridiculous things that are not even worth discussing.

That being said, many of them are intelligent. Guys like Kron & Eddie Bravo are borderline geniuses in BJJ. Michio Kaku is a physicist. But spouting off about the flat earth & fake moon landings are great ways to get your name out there. And on the net, any publicity is good publicity, right?

Take off the tin foil hat, my friend. The aluminum is seeping into your brain

The "moon hoax" & FE are all part of the same conspirtarial bukkake soup. No need to get salty about it. ;););)

baby with bathwater...not willing to do it

There are lots of FE videos on youtube that are put up strategically as click bait.
I don't mind those... I get it. They make a little ad cash and at the same time
get to troll people who can't do science.

What drives me nuts are the guys that are dead serious and cant even
calculate a basic scientific formula and then expect you to take them seriously
as they challenge the validity of Newtonian Gravity

really hard to tell who is serious online
never met flat earther in person
you apparently have...I wouldn't be mad at em though...just like you

Michio Kaku is a bad ass man and one hell of a cool dude.

His lectures are a "show" of education and entertainment and he always takes time
to stick around after the lecture to clear up anything you couldn't understand

Genuinely passionate and scientific educator

I bump into them all the time because I do distrust government and follow
topics that they follow. I've been in forums where the creators of some FE videos
were caught laughing about how they don't even believe it themselves but it makes
good ad cash.

Then you have the die hard serious guys... Those are the ones that work my nerves.
Especially when you hand them a scientific white paper with mounds and mounds of
evidence and it becomes obvious they don't have the literacy to follow it so they
simply make dismissive jokes while wanting you to follow some stupid youtube
vid as evidence

exactly

If you can lump Flat Earth in the same soup as Moon hoax, then you can just as easily lump in 9/11 stuff in the same soup, and so it goes. Soon ANY conspiracy theory gets lumped in/associated with Flat Earth and Eddie fucking Bravo and it discredits the whole field.

You start talking about real shit like NSA and people flip out and call you a conspiracy theorist on the same level as a FEer.

Its so easy to taint the whole scene, which is a shame because there is so much valuable stuff to discover if you have good enough critical thinking filters

CTs are nothing but pseudo intellectuals who think they're being "edgy".
