The lifelike humanoid creation has been filmed being put through its paces across rough woodland terrain.
Google-owned robotics company Boston Dynamics has been going from strength to strength lately with creations such as its four-legged robot Big Dog gaining significant attention on social media.
Now one of its latest inventions, a humanoid robot called Atlas, could be set to bring robots in to the mainstream thanks to its life-like motion, impeccable balance and eerily human-like appearance.
In a newly released video the company has demonstrated the robot's remarkable abilities by filming it stomping through the uneven terrain of a forest floor with unparalleled ease.
"We're interested in getting this robot out into the world," said Boston Dynamics founder Marc Railbert. "Out in the world is just a totally different challenge than in the lab, you just can't predict what it will be like."
"We're making pretty good progress on making it so it has mobility that's within shooting range of yours - I'm not saying it can do everything that you can do, but you can imagine, if we keep pushing, we'll get there."
