Obvious references to Jon Snow being king. This is a sneaky little reference at the beginning of the book, before characters are established. Game of Thrones isn’t that sophisticated, it’s a fairy tale, I think the idea of a dwarf being king is enough of a seeming twist to make RR Martin feel like he’s blown minds.

It would be insane for them not to do it. Everyone they kill becomes part of their team. You would just put up a siege at Winterfell and then take out the rest of the continent easily, which would have the effect of quadrupling your army. And you could just surround and starve out the remaining defenders because you don't need food yourself.

Which is why I think it won't happen. It makes too much sense. They'll stick to silliness.
