When I was a kid every one caught measles and mumps and chickenpox and we all survived.

Now they carry on like it's an Ebola outbreak when a kid gets measles.

Can you tell us why you think its bullshit? Because the bolded language is normal.

Even reviews of multi-center double blind randomized trials use the language, "our study suggests" as that is common and appropriate scientific vernacular to be very specific about what that data actually does.

You didn't.

Measles was just less deadly than much of your general childhood which was considerably more deadly than it is now. We care now because measles comes with cost and harm in various ways, including death that is now considered an unacceptable risk.


You guys were dying at a very preventable rate...





Measels kills at a rate of about 1-2:1000 (10-20:10,000 for that graph comparison) in western countries with modern medicine.

I've added that death rate on to the graph for future viewing

@Splinty , you may have all that science behind you but how are we not to believe the broad that thought I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry was a good career move.

I'm not anti-vaccine. But I also don't believe that all vaccines are safe either.

I trust my doctor. I don't trust the makers of vaccines.

The mumps part of the MMR vaccine was shit for 10 years and no one knew?

Does any outside source even test these vaccines?

Vaccine isn't shit.
Conditions changed in global herd architecture and exposure to different strains at increased rates in denser populations.

The answer isn't continuing to question the vaccine that essentially wiped a disease out of the country, its actually a booster shot.

And the vaccine still lowered mumps rates, lowered complications, lowered harm and costs. Even the cross immunity from the previous strain protects.

This thread, although hilarious, has taught me that @Splinty is my uncle and nobody is smarter than my uncle.

@Lars is my cousin, hence Splinto being my uncle. Actually he’s my father-in-law / my aunt.
