ODESSA, Texas — Police say there are "multiple gunshot victims" in Midland and Odessa after two suspects opened fire Saturday afternoon.

One suspect is in dead and police are searching for another, according to the Midland Police Department.

Odessa police have also confirmed one person is dead.

UMC has confirmed a 17 month old is on the way to Lubbock after being shot in the face.

According to Midland police, the shooters were driving from Midland to Odessa on I-20 when they stopped and shot a DPS trooper, before traveling to Odessa.

Police believe the traveled to Home Depot where they switched vehicles, one in a gold/white small Toyota truck and the other a U.S. mail carrier truck.

The suspect in the mail truck has not been apprehended.

There appear to be multiple shooting locations, and police have asked drivers to stay off the road and stay inside.

Multiple areas were on lockdown, including UT Permian Basin. All law enforcement is currently searching for the suspect and more information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

My shotgun still refuses to move on it’s own... even when antagonizing it by poking it.

Oh and this is for the incoming posts about gun control. Thots and pears to the victims and all that.

I feel Sorry for all the victims.

Crazy, but this is America, Everyone should arm up and conceal carry should be allowed so they can take care of these fuckheads on the spot.

Yep. If only the cop that pulled this guy over had been armed he could have taken care of him on the spot.

you only get to use the element of surprise once.
Of course I'm being cheeky with that comment.

Mainly because of how laid back the carry laws are in Texas. Nearly 5% of the state has a CC permit and there's certainly a ton of people open carrying or just good ole boys like half of my family that has always carried and never thought to bother with a permit.

My point being that if in a state that already has a solid number of legal, concealed carry permits is having this issue over and over and over... Maybe more guns in public isn't necessarily as effective as we may hope?

Surprisingly not. Open carry was outlawed until recently
I do forget that even though Texas is very yay gun you guys aren't quite as laid back as we are in Virginia. If you're from a small town here they send you home from the hospital at birth with a Derringer. Hell, I have 2 in arms reach right now but I still don't think that everyone carrying in public is a good solution.

There are enough on edge idiots in this world. The last thing I want is for them to now think that everyone else is packing and looking at them funny trying to start shit.

although my comment didn't apply for the state of Texas in the recent times, it is true the States and Cities with the most strict gun laws have the worst of the mass shootings

i'm not trying to stir shit. yes, the cop was armed but the victims after that could have been saved by other bystander who was carrying. you might not agree but has higher chance than just sitting around helpless watching other people get shot.
