Quarter final 2:
Vision - ThatOneDude @ThatOneDude vs Gladiator - Darqnezz @Darqnezz

Rules:
The fight starts in a grassy field 100 miles from anywhere - if you want a fight in jungles, snow or a city, you have to take the fight there. They have their powers in their ideal settings (eg Superman has been solar charged, Neo is in the Matrix, Namor is fully hydrated etc).

Win is by KO/death. Fleeing the battle is a DQ.

Vision:

I alter my density to become hard like a diamond (or my dick) and dig in before firing a beam of microwave radiation and start to cook him, setting the field ablaze.

Gladiator:

Powers:
Gladiator is an alien possessed of numerous abilities, first and foremost being his extraordinary strength. Whilst the uppermost limit of his strength is unknown, Gladiator has proven able to lift over 100 tons in weight. He once lifted the entire 35 floor Baxter Building in New York City, and has boasted of being able to move whole planets. In addition to his strength, Gladiator is virtually invulnerable to the point where he has survived an explosion of nearly nova force completely unharmed. Thanks to his incredible lung capacity, Gladiator is also able to draw in large amounts of air and then expel it all to create a gale force wind. Gladiator can also project intense beams of heat from his eyes that can reach temperatures comparable to those produced by stars, as well as microscopic vision that lets him see beyond the sub-atomic barrier.

Speed:

Gladiator can fly at speeds rivaling those of starships, and can achieve faster-than-light speeds in hyperspace. He can survive unprotected in the vacuum of outer space, being able to go long periods of time without needing to draw breath.

Let's fight:
** I laugh at your pathetic attempt to warm my innards. How could you know that I've flown through stars hotter than your pathetic sun. I fire 2 beams of my own. The heat from my eyes is so intense that it rapidly begins to melt the diamond body you inhabit and turns the ground you stand on to lava**

I'm not an expert on these 2. Does Gladiator have super speed? Is this the Vision with a normal jewel or the movie version?

Darqnezz @Darqnezz should post a power set regarding Gladiator but yes, he has demonstrated super speed. I guess we're going with comic Vision.

I picked Vision because he's one of my favourite characters, I think he'd really struggle though against Glad

Hahaha as you shoot your puny rays at me I yet again alter my density and become ghost like. I fly straight up into space where I begin to orbit around the moon. Once reaching maximum speed I alter my density yet again to become hard like a diamond and heavy as a building, using the gravitational pull of the earth and moon to sling shot myself at you creating a nuclear like impact of a 1000 suns, wiping out earth an causing a nuclear winter.

Visions Power Grid lists his durability as a level 6. Gladiator is 7+. I doubt Vision survives the impact. Even if he does Gladiator's entire body is virtually impervious to all physical damage. He has shown himself to be capable of flying through stars completely unharmed, and has actually withstood the explosive power of a supernova.

**Fight:

Unharmed by your pathetic, suicidal, fall from the heavens, I slowly fly through the broken remnants of the planet once called earth. I find what's left of your shattered remains forever frozen into the shape of a flaccid penis. Hailing your brave but doomed (and really dickish for destroying earth fuckface) attempt at glory, I fly your corpse to its final resting place in the center of your sun. Time to chase space bitches.

Here's a scenario for thought. Vision becomes intangible, Gladiator attacks not realizing he can't touch him. As Gladiator passes through him, Vision becomes tangible, end of fight?

Gladiator. Vision passing through someone and adding a slight amount of mass as he passes through causes immense pain...... Now imagine if I got to my 90 ton self?

Gladiator's body is harder (LOL) than Vision's. I would deduce that if they were passing through each other, Vision would come off second best.

Additionally, what a whacky powerset. Vision can increase his mass to 90 tons but can only lift 50 tons. That would be problematic

Leigh @Leigh I was reading that link you gave eariler about Vision and I noticed that if he is intangible in someone and adds a half ounce of mass, it knocks the other person out. If he solidified 50% as Gladiator flew threw, wouldn't that be game over for Gladiator or can he handle that? Again, I'm not real familiar with either of these.

Hence why I went to 90 tons when I slingshoted myself into the earth destroying it and hopefully maiming Gladiator

I think it depends who he can knock out with half an ounce (LOL). A normal human?

90 tons / 0.5 ounce = 5 760 000. Gladiator is trillions of times stronger and more durable than a normal human. He picked up the Baxter building effortlessly and he's considered to have strength on a cosmic scale.

I will take Gladiators monster ass in this fight. He is a fucking beast who made juggernaut look like a child. He would rip Vision apart. Don't fuck with the shi'ar

Does strength matter in this case though? Isn't his durability the main concern in this particular scenario? Does his durability match his strength? Btw, I love these kinds of threads...I couldn't care less who wins but the discussions are just fun. Thanks for putting it together.

His durability is what is important but unless he has a forcefield or an adamantium skeleton, there will be quite a strong corellation between strength and durability.

If I guy can lift 3,000 tons over his head, his body must be able to tolerate the immense forces.

And Gladiator has flown through suns. His durability is much more than 6 million times that of a human.

I'm not saying Vision can't win, I'm just questioning this exact method. Maybe he could go intangible and mess with Gladiator's brain, which might be more vulnerable.

Leigh @Leigh good point about the immense forces. After reading about these 2, I would actually suggest using some form of the intangible ability like this is the only way Vision could actually win. I don't see him actually hurting Gladiator any other way. Also, is Gladiator the guy whose powers are tied to his confidence?
