I've got the boxes organized and it's not so intimidating anymore.

However I'm starting to think that saving $600 on the assembly of a kitchen I'll probably have for 20 years is not the wisest move. I'm also a bit neurotic and if I make a mistake it will be the first thing I see every time I walk in the room.

Basically I'm looking for you guys to tell me that I'm still a good man, I'm still a strong man, and that I still deserve love.
Even though I paid another man to assemble my kitchen.

Dont you have a home depot where you live? You could get 6 day laborers to assemble them for 50 bucks and be done with it.

What kind of countertops are you putting in? When I did my kitchen it was all IKEA cabinets, but then I made my counters out of big sheets of bamboo butcher block material. I thought it was a cool way to jazz up my IKEA cabinets.

We're just debating that, we might bite the bullet and go quartz but those run $3500. Don't know if I can justify spending that. We're going to go look at cheaper options tonight.

Yeah we had that same debate. I have a decent amount of counter space, and I think I spent around $1000 for the material. It took 3 sheets (each one measured 3 feet by 8 feet) and I think they were around $300 per sheet. Then I took care of cutting and finishing and installing. You can either clear coat with poly, or do a wax/mineral oil type finish. Plus, if they get fucked up I can just sand them down and refinish. If you like the butcher block look the bamboo is pretty cool. I'd imagine wood counters might be even cheaper than the bamboo as well.

I am getting my kitchen redone. I did the demolition myself to save money. I've got a contractor doing the install. I asked him how much I'd save if I put the cabinets and cupboards together by myself. He said $600.
Here is what just got dropped off at my house...

I can't even find the fucking instructions.

Youre looking for a chinese takeout menu sized booklet that looks like this.

I'd suggest going for the quartz. If you ever sell its those type of upgrades that'll get you top dollar and won't have people second guessing if you chinsed out on other things they aren't aware of. That and quartz or granite will out last basically everything else and is relatively maintenance free. How it looks is completely subjective but imo quartz and granite are the best.
