So here are the paintings we went to see. My friend lost his shit, lol. He is I dare say a genius painter, he wasn't just coming as a fan he was coming to study brushstrokes or whatever to decipher his techniques, figure out how Frazetta approached his stuff.

'The Berzerker' cover for a Conan book as far as I know:

Detail from The Berzerker:

Never saw this one before. My friend guesses he probably knocked it off in a few hours. amazing

It wasn't just cool for movie nostalgia... back in the days, movie posters were all HAND PAINTED ARTWORK. Later they started swapping in colorized photos, but if you go back they were all original paintings. As an illustrator I found it amazing. What a cool job that would have been for artists to gig. Lots of beautiful stuff. Even the lettering and titles, all original designs and paintings/lithographs etc

look at this painting!:

This poster is all wonky, its almost the exact opposite of standard movie-poster composition. I've never seen a composition like this but its fuckin great lol

This is a movie I need to learn more about. It was made in Germany in 1927, between the World Wars. Apparently is was a huge budget, the greatest movie ever like the Avatar of the day or something, strong political themes etc... but was somehow lost and the entire film is missing. We have pieces of it - or these are just the rumors I heard I don't know the truth but sounds curious;

Beauty and the Beast from 1946:

This is from a SILENT FILM in 1921. One of the first horror movies ever.

I don't know about this particular film, but I remember reading a few of the plaques that described how some of the very early horror films in the 20's and 30's were actually CRAZY violent and twisted, scenes of torture and rape and necrophilia and human sacrifice etc. I never watched but I can see how the doors would have been open to sickos who wanted to do it back then because no one ever considered guidelines or ratings etc.

The rest of the museum is absolutely amazing, there are so many real artifacts from all over history it is a real trip. Name a time and place in human history and they will have actual stuff from that era, fantastic artwork and craftsmanship. I even saw some real trinkets from ancient Sumer from the 'known' beginnings of time, stuff trips me out sometimes hard

I didn't take pictures after the horror exhibit but I did think y'all might like to see this massive tapestry from ancient Taoist China where everyone looks mike motherfuckin Jedi Knights:

Metropolis was one of the most occult films made in history.

It was always their ultimate goal - man giving up his free will to Satan by merging with the machine.

Many pay homage to the blue print the film set forth...
