for good reason. congress needs more like him.

we are in odd times when someone supporting/defending the constitution is called a "traitor".
the guy has an obvious agenda and the only reason anyone ever talks about him is because he is a never trumper.

Amash had quite a following before Trump was even president.

he's being talked about more now because he is the only one willing to break party & stand against/call out Trump's BS.

I like how the term “Never Trumper” is used to negate any viewpoint from a Republican who is honest enough to call Trump out for what he is. It’s such a easy shorthand for people who want to remain willfully ignorant. “Oh he’s a ‘Never Trumper’? That’s a relief, I don’t have to consider what he’s saying.’

It’s the same fucking thing they’ve done with their “Fake News” shit. ‘Oh it’s an article from the Washington Post?’ I don’t need to read it then.” Only a completely bankrupt, political party would be so invested in keeping people as ignorant as they can. The scariest part is people want to cling to their beliefs so badly that they are happy to remain ignorant and “right” if you give them the slightest chance.

You’ve got people looking up from their Ramen noodles to cheer for the bankers and the Dow Jones, because it’s the only thing they have left to convince themselves Trump has been anything but an embarrassing disaster.

“Don’t listen to Pythagorus, that guy is a “Round Earther”.

I guess they're getting better. 2 years ago this title would have been "Trump claim about US embassy threats completely made up"

Maybe a high school kid taking CNN to task has made the media think a bit about their carelessness. At least with this title you know the article is likely full of bullshit and conjecture.

Still - I'm going to go ahead and NOT read the article.
doesn't really seem that far off...

Pompeo: "we don't know when or where"
Sec of Defense: "nothing specific, I didn't see one"
Trump: "I believe so, probably, does it really even matter?"

Ha ha. He had his money on Biden and he made the whole Ukraine mess for what might be nothing. Now he’s moving on to Bernie.
They're all going down 1 by 1. Biden had the best chance but he looks and acts every bit of his 100 years of age. None can stump the Trump...

justin amash is also a huge traitor and never trumper rino who left the republican party and now sits as an independant. pretty much his whole schtick is to shit on everything trump does
This^
The dude is a just a bitch. Also it's funny how much press this lame nerd gets when New Jersey Democrat Congressman Jeff Van Drew who switched parties to Republican because of La La Pelosi's impeachment bullshit gets no press at all except for a little on Fox News...

Media is...

I do - but I don't watch FOX, CNN, etc, or use it to follow this garbage unless something significant is happening.

can only remember a handful of people vocally opposing Trump. Amash (for good reason), Lee (at times), Paul (not nearly enough), Massie (?) & Flake (retired?). Romney of course, but who cares.

Amash getting the most press because he actually up & left the party & was one of the few who supported impeachment.

Amash isn't getting the most press, and if he supported impeachment he's not the guy I thought he was and is the kind of person I was afraid he was.

meh, Van Drew knew he might lose his Dem support (& seat) if he voted against impeachment. protection move IMO. switch parties (there was plenty of media coverage) & now Trump is throwing rallies for him.

Amash left the party to stand on his own.

You don't watch mainstream media, so I'm not sure what metric you're using.

As for this idea that supporting impeachment was a good thing. 1) We know the process will go nowhere. 2) It's caused the legislature to completely grind to a halt. So shit that should be getting done, stuff that benefits the American people, isn't getting done so both parties can have a circle jerk. If Amash cared about the constitution and upholding its ideals he wouldn't be getting involved with this nonsense.

The press wasn't the same. Whenever Amash is covered, it's to stick it to Trump. When Drew was covered it's turned into a "well he was really conservative" and so on. Amash is gonna lose his seat this year so good riddance. Also I thought all the dem leadership was saying "vote your conscience"? Obviously not for Drew because I agree with you that he was gonna lose his dem support and seat if he voted his conscience.

Also as I've mentioned before, West Virginia's Governor switched parties from Dem to Rep which is so such much of a bigger story than Amash or Drew leaving their former party...

but I do have the internet & can find just as much there.

I never said it was a good or bad thing, just what Amash believed/where he stood. I also think standing on principle is more important than simply falling in line because "the process will go nowhere".

things are still getting done & Amash is still calling them out.

a little something to do with the constitution. benefit the American people? not so much.

won't deny that. liberal stations love his breaking party. IIRC, it's mostly libertarian-leaning rags that cover him.

respect for Drew for standing his ground, & I won't pretend to know his voting record, but he couldn't have been much of a Democrat if the switch was that simple. was he just playing Dem for votes? if legit Democrat, why become Republican over impeachment? why not Independent?

Amash was the more principled move IMO.

Well, no. You actually can't make accurate statements about media coverage when by in large part you aren't watching it.

I also think standing on principle is more important than simply falling in line because "the process will go nowhere".
He's not standing on principle, this is a publicity move for him plain and simple. No one who's the least bit objective thinks this impeachment is valid, and that's ignoring that we already know it's not going anywhere. It's an election year and the GOP is going to have a tough time in Michigan so what do you do? Leave the party.

you realize "media" is more than just TV right?

LOL. you guys just said it yourself - Amash wasn't getting press. not much of a publicity stunt then was it?

leaving the Democratic party for the Republicans is a bitch move IMO. going from one team to another, afraid to stand alone. give me 100 more of Amash, willing to call out both parties.

People in California don't vote in Michigan.

Of course you think that, you've had a thing for Amash for quite sometime. He's very much "your guy" the same way some people are enamored with Trump. Defecting to independant is one of the biggest copout moves of all time.

one of the few vocal opponents of repeated abuses to the constitution/BOR. I don't have a "guy", but Amash has proven to be for the people more than most.

Clearly. Probably why he voted in favor of a procedure that means nothing gets done for half the day...

It put him in a position where he never has to take a real stand against the popular opinion. All the pressure of being in a party is lifted from him. It takes a lot more fortitude to be Tulsi in the Democratic party than it does Justin Amash as an independant.
