There's lots of dysfunction in a way that the pricing occurs for us, but our research and development subsidizes the entire world.
we can go into all the details of this some other time, but to just call it a cancer completely ignores the reality that requires much more nuance than populist ranting.
It can't even be said about Europe let alone the US.
Are they things about it not great, sure are. But from my own personal experiences I'd rather pay for quality care then get free gov healthcare in this country.

Most of those new drugs are derivatives of government funded research. Something like 80%. Also those corporations are only making drugs for things that turn a profit. Things like new antibiotics that aren't profitable aren't being created. Yes the US is at the cutting edge but it's not because corporations are putting the vast healthcare costs into research.
I'm horrible because my employer has an insurance policy that is fantastic and I'd rather use that than the government run Healthcare that I have access to, because they can't even read mri's correctly?
