So for the last 5 years I did not buy any stocks, except for a monthly savings plan into the DAX (the german Nasdaq, if you will), of which I sold a good chunk before the value drop. Bought some back now, but waiting with the rest for now.

I've been eyeing american titles and an ETF for the S&P500 for a long time...

How do you guys see the situation in the US?
Do you expect sharper drops once some famous person gets sick, transport economy gets impaired or the government comes up with sharper measures affecting daily life?

Do you, maybe have a tip tor a good source for information for the US market?

What do you guys think?

p.s. not a trader here, not into speculating. I'm just looking long term for my retirement savings for when I'm an old gentleman :D

It will continue to fall off a bit I think. Plenty of deals to be had already.

If you are looking long term, I'd target dividend stocks and set it up with a drip so your position grows year over year.

Feds cut benchmark interest rate to 0. Doing everything they can to keep the bottom from falling out.

Disney is an interesting look.

Down 10.65% today.

But I bet their viewership subscriptions increase considerably during this "quarantine". So their parks will take a huge, temporary hit but monthly viewership will be added income that will remain after this mess is over.

52 week high of $153.41
Sitting at $91.60

Dividend stock.
It's been over $125 since April of 2019.

Definitely added to my watch list.

I agree with the media companies, man.
I also came to the same conclusion with the dividents. But most media stuff I looked at doesnt pay dividents.
Was looking at Netflix, fecesbook and Amazon.

Especially stuff like Netflix - they don't need thousands of workers to keep their shit running, even if staff gets sick.

Disney I can't get behind (the other companies are no angels, either, bit the last Disney movie I liked probably was Aristocats).

Fascinating to watch. It's recovered nearly $1000 since the market was halted.

PLNT - Planet Fitness

52 week high $88.77
Currently at $39.65

Most of their income is based on memberships. They might see a drop in new members for the next month, but their profits should continue. As most know - you pay for those memberships whether you go there or not.

Following this one. It saw some support at $50 last week but has since fallen under $40 during today's insanity.

In Germany, the people that I saw posting videos or articles or being interviewed (either media sites or people who manage funds or are otherwise responsible for big amounts) are all telling to yet wait.

I personally am not too sure whether stuff will drop even further. But I might gladly be wrong.

The stock market does not fully reflect the current state of the economy or its implications but is influenced a lot by people buying and selling stocks, companies needing cashflow, having to sell stocks, people waiting to buy into certain stocks. Talking about large investors, not the schmucks on mma forums :D
