I hear you. And I bit my lip on saying anything when the cases were published. But the WHO decided to weigh in and suggest it first line for self treatment for OTC use. And if I've got both in my cabinet I'd follow their guidance.

To be clear here is the history and here is sort of how science and medicine works.
Some guys in China saw some case reports where ibuprofen seemed to worsen covid 19.
France saw the same thing.
France went as far as putting out a country wide guideline to avoid ibuprofen in covid 19.
this became a big issue with lots of people pushing back that that was premature and international experts weighing in that they've been treating similar viruses and without the good evidence you're going to go and limit people's ability to treat fever and other immune responses, especially in mild disease, which is an important part of self medication.
After this the WHO came out yesterday stating that there isn't enough data for sure, but the data that has been quickly reviewed by them, they recommend avoiding ibuprofen for self-medication specifically in this disease. again that self medication because the data is kind of out and your doc can do whatever because then they can see if this is a response to a specific population the disease or not at all.
understand my shorthand is purely a reference to the WHO guidance on self-medication of covid 19.
I've edited my post to use the word questionable because that's really what it is and not necessarily risky which implies there's a known risk.
Also recognize that doctors use guidelines and that we leave off those guidelines to do whatever we want that's right for the patient all the time because guidelines are made for populations. There is no rule book for most of our patients.
