Here's some new reports from a local ENT here
Corona virus patients are reporting lost sense of smell and taste. I have no idea the data for this but there's case reports of it so ENT groups are starting to suggest this may be a screening question. Regardless if you have a sudden loss of taste or smell you should call your doc anyway.
Also for mask talk...
An ENT surgery in China for a endoscopic pituitary surgery apparently infected an entire operating room full of people. Apparently this is about as bad as you could get of a procedure. So normally this is a respiratory droplet virus. But if you intubate somebody you have to assume your aerosolizing it. So you go from respiratory droplet precautions to airborne precautions because you are mechanically changing the way the droplets move around. Apparently this case report says everybody was wearing N95s knowing that they were aerosolizing, but people still got infected. this could be from improper wear but you would think the Chinese are pretty good at wearing their gear by this point. So now the group is suggesting to consider respirators for this particular surgery until more details can be figured out.
