Person may have had a "domestic flight" option or something. Never used the app, but could see myself making a dumb post like that due to ... being dumb

it's not. I downloaded the app. There is no filter which was my original assumption.
The planes don't appear on the screen until you stop moving. So the person keeps scrolling the screen with touching their touchscreen so the planes don't appear. Then you stop take your finger off the screen and the planes appear.
It's intentional
