From The Washington Post

The US Treasury has ordered Donald Trump’s name be printed on cheques to be sent to tens of millions of Americans affected by the coronavirus outbreak, a decision that will slow their delivery by several days, according to the Washington Post.
Citing unnamed senior officials at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Post reported the $1,200 cheques – being sent by the as part of a $2.3tn package enacted last month to cushion the economic blow from the pandemic – will “bear Trump’s name in the memo line, below a line that reads, ‘Economic Impact Payment’.”
The White House and the Treasury Department did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment, however the Post said Treasury officials disputed that the cheques would be delayed.
The Post said the “unprecedented decision” to include Trump’s name was announced to the IRS information technology team on Tuesday.
“The team, working from home, is now racing to implement a programming change that two senior officials said will likely lead to a delay in issuing the first batch of paper checks,” it said.

So, with Donald Trump withholding the funding for the WHO due to the errors they have made, I have a suggestion for my American brethren.

It’s time to refuse to pay your taxes, while you conduct an inquiry into Donald Trump’s running of the country. Seems only fair to me.

The absolute power part.. I don’t get how the 2nd amendment crowd isn’t freaking out over this. A govt trying to seize absolute control over the states, is that not a tyrannical govt? Time to bare arms and rise up!
He's already walked back those comments....This is just the other side of the "but he's not a career politician" coin. The guy says stupid stuff on the regular, it's not surprising at this point.

Trump: UFC's 'great Dana White,' WWE's 'great Vince McMahon' part of new economy task force
Donald Trump on Tuesday at his daily coronavirus news conference rattled off an extensive list of leaders across many industries who he said will be tasked with helping restart the U.S. economy.

Included on that list was UFC president Dana White – “the great Dana White,” Trump said – and WWE CEO Vince McMahon, whom Trump also singled out as “great.” White and McMahon are part of leaders of sports leagues like the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL who will be consulted when the United States starts to reopen a country that has largely been in lockdown for weeks as a response to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Sports league leaders are just one small segment of a much larger list of leaders from companies in industries like technology, health care, hospitality and manufacturing who Trump said will be consulted for ideas on how best to get the economy rolling again.

“In sports – we want to get our sports back, so importantly,” Trump said. “… We have to get our sports back. I’m tired of watching baseball games that are 14 years old. But I haven’t actually had too much time to watch. I would say maybe I watch one batter, and then I get back to work.”

The UFC held an event March 14 in Brasilia, Brazil, despite much of that city going into lockdown mode days prior. It was held behind closed doors. Its next scheduled event a week later in London initially was moved to Las Vegas, then postponed entirely.

The UFC soon after that postponed two additional U.S. events, but kept UFC 249 for this Saturday on the schedule and was trying to do the show on tribal grounds in California. But this past week, after getting calls he said came from the highest levels at broadcast partner ESPN and Disney, which owns ESPN, White pulled the plug.

Right now, all UFC events – as well as events for its chief rival Bellator and all other MMA promotions – are on hold. But so, too, are the entire seasons for major sports like baseball, basketball, hockey, auto racing and golf. Some experts believe once the country is able to get back to some level of normalcy and sports leagues have the green light to resume, they likely will have to do so behind closed doors with no fans in attendance for the foreseeable future to help prevent a second outbreak of the disease.

As of Tuesday, there were nearly 580,000 reported cases in the U.S. alone and more than 22,000 deaths from the disease. Also Tuesday, Trump announced the U.S. would halt funding to the World Health Organization and cast blame on that organization for the virus’ spread, saying that had the WHO acted more swiftly, the pandemic could have been avoided.

White on Tuesday said the UFC is targeting a May 9 return in an undisclosed location with a fight card featuring many of the fights that were targeted for UFC 249, as well as additional bouts freshly put together.

The problem I have is, folks try to implement the stupid shit he says and because he changes his mind on the drop of a hat, it causes confusion and chaos over time. This is why he's a rather dangerous president. He will defend himself at all cost, including but not limited to lying to everyone about anything he thinks makes him look even remotely bad, or withholding funding from an org that (despite past mistakes) can help right now.

I'm not suggesting we don't investigate the inner workings of the WHO. We all know that large political orgs like this are rife with corruption etc but now is not the time to be playing the politicking game. We need all of the help we can get and these little ego wars should wait until we're at least over the hump.

Those people are dumb.
This and his attitude towards the military are why I did not vote for Trump. That being said he was the lesser of 2 evils IMO. I do think we are going to have 4 more years of Trump, we shall see how that goes.

REPORTER: “I wanted to ask you specifically about one industry in particular, and that’s food-processing plants. Is there a priority to get testing at food-processing plants all across the country?”

TRUMP: "Well, you’re asking that because of what happened — it’s a fair question, too — what happened in Denver. Because in Denver, I’ve never seen — I said, “What’s going on?” We’re looking at this graph where everything’s looking beautiful and it’s coming down and then you got this one spike. It’s — I said, “What happened to Denver?”
And many people, very quickly, and they — by the way, they were on it like, so fast, you wouldn’t believe it. They knew every aspect. They had people go and — not only testing, “Who did you see? Where were you? How many people did you meet? Were you out to dinner in somebody else’s home? Where were you?” Where did — where did this number of people come from? How did — they are totally on it.
Now, this just happened. I just saw it this morning. I’m looking at everything smooth, going down, topping out. And then you have this one spike in Denver. It’s like, where did this come from?
So we’ll be looking at that. And we don’t want cases like that happening. This was — but this — this is the kind of thing can happen. This is very complex.
This is a very brilliant enemy. You know, it’s a brilliant enemy. They develop drugs like the antibiotics. You see it. Antibiotics used to solve every problem. Now one of the biggest problems the world has is the germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can’t keep up with it. And they’re constantly trying to come up with a new — people go to a hospital and they catch — they go for a heart operation — that’s no problem, but they end up dying from — from problems. You know the problems I’m talking about. There’s a whole genius to it.
We’re fighting — not only is it hidden, but it’s very smart. Okay? It’s invisible and it’s hidden, but it’s — it’s very smart. And you see that in a case like a Denver.
But, you know, I think we’re doing well, and they’re on Denver like you wouldn’t believe. I came in this morning; it was a flurry. I said what’s going on? They said, “Denver.” I said, “What happened to Denver?” Because Denver was doing pretty well. And they’ve got that under control. But, yeah, that would be a case where you do some very big testing."

LOL at that taking 3 days.

EU blasts Trump's WHO funding cut, fears it worsens pandemic
The European Union on Wednesday said Trump has "no reason" to freeze WHO funding at this critical stage and called for measures to promote unity instead of division.

Trudie Lang, a professor of global health research at Oxford University said attempts to hinder WHO's work could have significant consequences for the pandemic response.

"The reason we're making such fast progress on diagnostics, vaccines and drugs is because of WHO's role as a neutral broker," she said. "It's their role to bring together the best science."

Coronavirus: Sen. Susan Collins says Trump 'very uneven' in briefings
"It’s been very uneven. There are times when I think his message has been spot on and he has really deferred to the public health officials who have been with him at these press conferences," Collins said in the interview. "And then there are times when I think he’s been off message and has brought up extraneous issues. So I think it’s been mixed."

She said his conflicts with reporters were not "helpful" and "when he gets off message or brings up issues that have nothing to do with the coronavirus, it is not reassuring to the American people."
