Were those pics factual?

Yes.

Like it or not, PJ did participate to a certain level in some capacity of the forces.

I would think it's no where near bringing up the participation other than to say it happened.

Do I think PJ was fishing for valor comments?

I don't think so.

Should PJ have tossed this pics up on his social media?

Probably not.

Even if he did, they should have surely had the caveat about his involvement.

But I'm not him.

However, he got roasted alive at the time and has never done it since.

OP comes along and gets a burr in his panties about it and brings it back up and wants everyone to grab their torch and have a run at PJ again.

Sorry OP missed the original mob but OP's torch looks more like a virtue signal.

I don't think it matters at this point.

People will take whatever viewpoint that suits and supports their narrative and go from there.

You rarely see anyone get their mind changed by what someone else posts in rebuttal to an internet discussion.

PJ is a polarizing persona and he generates lots of buzz about anything he does.

I enjoy the fact that he's on teh OhGee simply because he posts stuff that is interesting.
