Next government will strike that down
I certainly would hope so... but how much you bet that the liberals could be reelected just by using fear tactics. GOSH THE CONS WANT GUNZ EVERYWHERE. MASSACRES WILL HAPPEN LEFT AND RIGHT. And so forth. With strong media backlash ... the urban ridings will vote liberal just to make sure it does not happen.

In essence,
Good luck with that.

Canada is fucked and solidly cucked.

Our Prime Minister just passed a law with no public consultation, no oversight, and no debate. He completely pissed all over the democratic process that the western world is supposed to be built on.

Anyone, regardless your opinion of firearms, who isn't appalled by this is a complete and utter moron.
Not much debate within the media except for a few exceptions... It's in the bag... Alas

The Senate will overturn this. No way are the courts prepared to deal with the massive amounts of appeals from rifle owners, and there's no way canada will be able to afford a buyback when we're projected to be a quarter trillion dollars in debt after Covid pandemic
You're seriously underestimating Justin bro

I cant wait to see how this actually plays out.the liberals are notoriously lazy and will take the full 2 years to implement this fully.it will also be massively over budget and accomplish nothing.it is just going to be another liberal party boondoggle
Liberal politics all summed up.
Sr will be proud to see the legacy is respected

Yeah maybe a bit optimistic, maybe even more optimistic that the opposition will fight this. It's going to cost hundreds of millions of dollars to turn law abiding citizens into criminals.
Doug Ford is right, put that money towards the problem. Stopping the illegal entry of firearms at the border, and severe punishments/sentences.

"these rifles have no legitimate use. Not even hunting, therefore they're being banned. Indiginous groups are exempt from the ban because they need to use these for hunting "

We're probably looking at a billion plus.

What to me is even more galling is right now you have people at home, out of work, unable to make ends meet. If I were one of those people I would be fucking livid right now that the government has money for gun buy backs, but not for its citizens to meet their needs.

Nah

China will own Canada soon.
Maybe you see why i believe diversity is our weakness. Liberal governments have never fixed the world but think they will next time. They never ended hunger. Only brought on more problems for the people

What's going to happen with the buyback program is legal gun owners will return their guns, cash their government cheques, and buy a new gun that is not on the banned list. All on the taxpayers dime.

Bass pro and Cabela are all like

No can do. Most businesses won't accept returns on firearms (kind of makes sense if you think about it) and even then, most aren't licensed to possess prohibited firearms.

cash their government cheques, and buy a new gun that is not on the banned list.
From Lord Justin's proclamation:

There is also a risk that affected firearms owners may elect to replace their firearms with models unaffected by the ban, causing a market displacement. This risk may be mitigated by adding additional makes and models to the list of prohibited firearms in the future.
All on the taxpayers dime.
That's my dime. I already bought the gun once, now I'm being forced to buy it again.
