My all time favorite actor is Al Pacino, with his role in the Godfather being my favorite by far.

I'm a massive fan of his, and have seen most of his work (he has a shit ton of movies though, and some weird indy films I haven't seen)

The Godfather, Carlito's Way, Scarface, Heat, Scent of a Woman, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, and Justice for All, Donnie Brasco
.. hell this is just a small selection, and all of these are classics, some ranking among the best films ever.

This may be stereotypical, but De Niro has always been tied for first, or a very close 2nd in my book. Again, I don't need to explain WHY De Niro is so great - but come on...

Godfather part 2 as young Vito, Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, Untouchables, RAGING BULL, King of Comedy, Once Upon a Time in America, HEAT, Casino, Goodfellas, A fuckin Bronx Tale... Fuck. When I sit here and list their roles, I think it's a tie between Pacino and De Niro, how can I choose one over the other?

So anyway.. what are your favorite actors, and favorite roles they've played? Film or TV is fine.

And of course, an honorable mention to the man who pulled off literally the greatest role in film history...

Obviously Brando's career goes WELL beyond the Godfather - he may easily be considered the GOAT (hell I just watched On the Waterfront again last week, and my god was he amazing when he was young)... But as far as a single character, a single role throughout history? How can it get better than Don Corleone?

Hmmm....

Probably Robert Redford.

Not only for his movies, many times pushing the envelope, but what he's done outside of them as well.
My idol growing up though was Charles Bronson.

I enjoy watching DDL work, because everything he touches is a work of art.
I also study Joaquin Phoenix.
And I like Denzel movies too, even though he's frequently the same.
What else can be said about Deniro that hasn't been said?
Neil McCauley & Max Cady were two of my favorite characters all-time.

Bronson is the man!!! I just watched the Valachi Papers the other day. Criminally under rated film IMO

sparkuri @sparkuri - what other Bronson movies would you recommend to check out? I have only seen a few but every single one was great. He's one of those guys I've long been meaning to look into, go on a binge of all their work etc

Anything you post, I'll watch! Thanks man.
