It's interesting to see an executive over rule local government...

When they have a history of deriding the same from the feds:

As evidence mounted that Russian hackers were attempting to disrupt the 2016 elections, President Obama directed Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to work with states to secure their voting systems as "critical infrastructure." Kemp was the only state election official who declined the help.[20] In a 2017 interview, Kemp denounced the effort as an assault on states' rights

Texas Gov in the same tug of war. Loves states rights against the feds, but then over rules the Mayors when it's politically expedient.
We have kicked requirements from Gov to Mayor to Business to Individual... but if someone complains, the governor will overrule the mayor he empowered "for freedom".
Example...
Gov puts out orders closing Salon. Salon refuses very publicly, is arrested. Governor immediately undermines the arrest. Top Texas officials denounce Dallas salon owner’s jail sentence for defying orders to close

All of this pandemic is exposing the frailty of where these politicians actually stand. It's valence issues and virtue signaling and they don't seem to actually believe what they are selling when the rubber meets the road.

Texas feels like endless buck passing. I was impressed with Abbot's willingness to actually lockdown with a phased reopening plan. This seemed very unlike him. But afterwards the phased reopening has been very ambiguous and with no teeth to actually phase, which means the lockdown was worthless and just harmed people without the benefits.

Think we will go back to a lock down. Our 7 day infection rate rolling average keeps creeping higher. Not Florida higher, but enough that it should be a major concern.

I have not gotten my own test back from Monday, but I have been feeling well over all these past few days. According to my doctor yesterday through tomorrow are critical days for me to see if I get sick again or if it was just a bug and goes away. It would be nice to get test results back quicker, but I don't know how we do that if we keep increasing the number of people tested, which is a good thing.

No I think the previous failure to phase and test has undermined lockdown politically and there is no will for that.
We will shoot the moon and people will isolate at their own response or smolder some half in half out poorly coordinated plan.
None of this stuff works if 50% of us are doing one thing and 50% are doing another.

You spend the 6 weeks before lockdown and the 6 week lockdown building testing capacity...not wait until May to finally start rolling out that capacity after lockdown like Texas derpy derp derp.

It's a big cluster, I'm sure you see it more than I do.
