Why the fuck are they taking kids camping during a situation like this?
These fires started very quickly and became serious when the winds switched.
There was no fire emergency 2 days ago.

They were likely camping for a week for labor day and the kids not having school anymore...felt they were in a safe spot...then the fires jumped many miles quickly in their direction, or the fires threatened to shut down their road out down so they had to evacuate...they may have been camping far from fires but many roads here are not thru routes so one way in and one way out.

Not sure how they got in that spot, glad they got out...Scary stuff...cutting it too close for comfort...if their car breaks down there it gets ugly real quick as we know.

FYI they are now evacuating everybody less than 18 miles from my house and the fires are creeping by the hour...basically if the wind doesn't switch tomorrow at noon like forecasted this part of the valley will burn 150,000 homes, mine included. I am offering my home to anybody fleeing theirs, although they may want to move farther from the fire than where I live.

Crazy times.

Facebook reports of arsonists starting small fires in areas without a current fire.

Really hope those are not true...disgusting if so

Police have arrested somebody setting a fire near Cabela's in Eugene

Other activity on the Police scanner about arsonists in the nearby forests such as Dexter Lake

and also arsonist reports in Veneta for the second day in a row(very dry area in a town surrounded by forests)

WTF these fucks should be shot

Is part of all this shit "protesters" wanting to burn it all down?

Let's all give a round of applause to all the tree huggers who fought against timber harvesting and bush clearing.
Bunch of granola eating, bleeding hearts.

The last few major fires we had were too close for comfort and really sucked. Got mandatory evacuation, thought my house would burn etc... This time our major fire is a good distance from my house. Thus far no one has started a fire that close to where I live, so I'm just dealing with burning eyes and daylight being orange through the clouds. Got a bit of ash flying through the air too. We were supposed to get Santa Ana winds (they blow east to west) last night and that is usually really bad for fires since the humidity drops dramatically and the winds can be really strong which can spread the fires really fast. On the plus side, the Santa Ana winds, when strong enough, do blow a good amount of the smoke out to sea. Winds were very weak last night and today, so not much change to the smoke in the air and the Mars like look to everything in daylight.

There is arson involved also...LEO are reporting this and there have been arrests made

Sadly

FYI the tree huggers lost that battle in Oregon...Lots of clear cuts and logging

haha
I am down with protecting some of the old growth, so I agree with dirt worshippers on that.

I also think Logging is good and dandy, it is some of these state's best natural resource...Hypocritical to live in a wooden house and complain about logging IMO...many of these states and cities wouldn't even be inhabited if it weren't for Logging.

I can't speak for Wash or Cali...not sure how they roll.
