why does he need to keep beating a dead horse??
Because it's obviously still an issue if people keep talking about it and it's easy as fuck to answer. The side-stepping on the largest stage just lends credence to the idea that it may be a real issue.

you keep saying he needs to say this while on the " largest stage "
if you watched the video you would have seen him speak to it while he's addressing the nation in 2017 and again during his 2019 state of the union, those stages weren't big enough?

again i understand this was during a debate AND he's vying for the position again so he should show patience and pander to the ass clowns

Those were the largest at that time. A lot has happened since. Now this was the largest stage. It's not hard for him to say "This is ridiculous. I don't know how many times I need to say it. Of course I denounce white supremacy. It is a horrible thing and anyone that subscribes to supremacist ideals is no friend of mine. Racism has no place in this country and should be condemned by all!"

"Sure."
"Stand back and stand by"

Just doesn't have the same ring to it now does it?

There are a lot of people who don't pay much attention to politics until election time. There are also new voters to speak to. It's ok to repeat information about your platform in a debate. These people have rallies in different locations and say a lot of the same kind of stuff over and over to different groups of people for a reason. Lower level local politicians knock on doors sometimes - of course they say the same thing over and over.

If the explanation is that he's above answering the same question two or three times, he might be in the wrong profession.

I wouldn't say busy regular everyday folks are assclowns because a politician trying to get their vote speaks to them when they're listening.

understandable 100%
no one said he was above answering, lmao if it were 2 or 3 times it too would be understandable as well or if it were say "busy regular everyday folk" beating the dead horse" but it's not

this type of thing is for those that don't follow politics, they catch just a head line or a glimpse of "news" report and they believe it to be true
even if, as you say "There are a lot of people who don't pay much attention to politics until election time" it's everywhere you turn, the picture is being painted

like i said he should show patience and pander to the ass clowns

It's idiotic not to.

At this point he should know the gotcha questions they are going to hit him with and have the perfect responses planned for them.

But he wasn't prepared. Instead he stepped into a huge pile of dogshit.

I think it shouldn't have been a "gotcha" question at all. Any question a politician has been asked before is an opportunity to stay "on message" and show consistency. But Trump has been sending mixed messages on this issue, and that's what he ended up remaining consistent with in the moment, intentional or not.

And yet he couldn't seem to do it on the biggest stage... Terrible decision.
except for the part where he did.
several times.

and said exactly what they wanted him to...tell Proud Boys to 'stand down

it's not easy to pander to the ass clowns when they're not your base.

there's a way to ask it without it being a 'gotcha' question, but Wallace went full-throttle on the Gotcha

I don't disagree.
