You engaged me on the topic after I posted a meme

Ughhhh

If you don't engage me about "numbers" then there is no rehashing of the topic...only my silly meme

:leftright:
The topic was whether it would go away.
It didn't go away and the reporting on it didn't go away. I know the number because it was reported today. That's the topic. 100,000 cases largest single day record yet.

Are the results in yet? I dont pay very close attention to this stuff.

You'll most likely have declarations by at least the AP and somebody else by tomorrow at the rate things are counting.

That's your normal line in the sand and while there could be some screwing around with courts or something else, none of this will change the election in most cases. Biden is ahead and it will take a couple of flips after tomorrow for that to change. It is not likely and I think you'll hear it called tomorrow.

so by January 20th say we have 350k deaths.
when Biden’s death count responsibly counter starts
Should I bet the over or under?
there's a lot of good stuff happening right now. For instance I just sent home a 70 something year old that would have been dead under my care for months ago. This is a combination of being better and more experienced but also access to certain drugs that I didn't have. None of these are silver bullets but you do see them work in certain populations.
but that guy was in the hospital for 18 days and now going to rehab and still won't be himself for at least 3 months from now.
There's a study that I read recently showing the mortality improvements in just the last 4 months. It's pretty dramatic in the sickest patients. Part of this is our treatment and experience and the other part is that we're not doing any system overruns right now. You can't really compare overrun New York with New York now.

Also it's very likely that everybody wearing mask is modulating viral load and participating in lowering disease severity. This is a working theory only born out in very small lab studies, but continues to have mounting evidence.

We are greatly expanding testing which is good but we are so far behind that it isn't that useful. you still have to come see me for your test and that's a cost in time barrier and that needs to stop. Even though we are expanding testing we simultaneously have leadership undermining what steps people should be taking to not get sick. In some areas virus infection density is so high that now it becomes very difficult to avoid being infected even if you're attempting all the right strategies. This majorly undermines the attempt to only protect the vulnerable for instance.

As to your direct question. No matter who is in charge for the next 60 to 120 days you can expect that the virus is going to surge significantly. We have already laid that time bomb for the last 2 months. Doubling rates are too fast and lots of areas that had very slow spread and low case densities. So now you have to start changing strategies. Some deaths are already guaranteed unfortunately because our cases are so high. Hospitalizations and deaths are starting to rise now. because of all of the things I talked about above there is a good chance they will not rise as much as the northeast and the spring or the south in the summer. but it's very unique depending on what resources you have for your area. A system overrun likely doubles deaths, and not just for covid19.
Bet on the virus until somebody starts talking about a significantly massive federal coordinated testing campaign and starts coordinated messaging so that we are all moving in the same direction. Until then the virus wins.

91,000 reported infections yesterday
By POTUS logic just stop counting and call it a victory

Does Vitamin D,C, and Zinc help or is it just some BS to help calm the crowd?

We know there is reasonable data that vitamin d deficiency sets you up for failure. Taking vitamin d has not proven that it reduces severity after the fact..

I know those seem like things that have to be linked together but in science they don't. You have to power a study to prove it.
If you are young and healthy you probably are fine on your vitamin d and don't benefit from supplementation. Are you fat eating a processed diet or older? I'd make sure I was taking a multivitamin with extra D. Don't go get tested. Just supplement.

Zinc has no proven efficacy. Lots of bench top studies on why it should work based on other viruses. but at the end of the day you need a patient-focused outcome and it's not there right now. It is basically harmless. Take it if you want. If you get Corona virus have someone throw some at you. Don't expect a whole lot. Any benefit is so weak as to be difficult to study.

vitamin c has the least data of all of these even though it's a popular go-to for just about every immunology homeopathy.
Again only harmful to your wallet typically. Probably the least important to supplement here, but it does make a great skin treatment for aging.

As America gets fatter and less healthy I suspect that we will get there too.
the northern states probably should have been doing it for a long time just like you.
This is actually probably one of the failures of having federal guidelines on this stuff where it's so varied by population and even geography.
it's easy for me to tell a single person go take your vitamin d. it might hurt your wallet but I know you and what's 5 bucks a month?
It's a whole different thing to write the policy that tells 200 to 300 million people to do that. I have no idea how to tell if that is a good use of funds. just that vitamin d deficiency keeps popping up as something harmful to lots of different body parts beyond your bones.

I was only answering for coronavirus, but yeah there is weak evidence for both of those things and stuff like anxiety control. And we know zinc deficiency will impact things like muscle growth, so you don't take below even if you're not taking it for a certain reason.

This is true. Most of it's because we're fat out of shape and eat a lot of processed foods.

but there are some of us that even with some sun exposure simply don't create enough vitamin d. We can't all live in Ohio with perfect solar energy
