it's not a good look, but there's a valid reason
Hedgefunds aren't using robinhood to place their shorts. they have a direct line to the dealers
so robinhood was preaumablg on just one side of the trade: placing a large number of buy orders for its clients
robinhood has to post collateral to clearing houses such as DTC or whomever. and when you have all your action on one side of the bet, that means alotttt of collateral
so robinhood may not have had the funds available to offer more buys on the stock, atleast, in the short term
