BlackBerry and Siemens were the only companies who have ever made phones capable of withstanding the demands of my barbaric lifestyle.Only savages keep phones with cracked screens.
What are your barbarian activities?BlackBerry and Siemens were the only companies who have ever made phones capable of withstanding the demands of my barbaric lifestyle.
Manual labor occupation, many outdoor activities in my somewhat limited free time. I use phones in dusty, wet conditions, but truthfully very rarely drop a phone. The one time my phone did fall on the floor I wasn't even holding it, it slid off a table. It fell face down onto it's screen protector which apparently didn't work at advertised. What are your barbarian activities?

That happened to me, as well, just a few days after I got it. Had it fixed the next day, though. I have only broken one other phone, and that was five years ago now.Manual labor occupation, many outdoor activities in my somewhat limited free time. All day homie. When do I find out if I’m gonna make money off this SLV stuff, K @kaladin stormblessed , @Hauler , @Lou Dog , @ThatOneDude , @Enock-O-Lypse Now! , @Willthiswork ?
Will I have an idea by this time tomorrow?
He's got his ear to the streets with this sort of thing.@jason73 ? I thought all he posted were Twitter posts!
What wrinkles could those things add? Will be interesting tomorrow to see if the winter storm which has just begun has any unintended operational effects due to possibly a limited staff in the trading floor, middle office trade support working remotely due to buslines being cancelled for tomorrow, senior management possibly staying home in Connecticut and thus handling escalations remotely or deligating to whomever from their desk who makes it in is senior. Etc
Basically, fingers crossed, let's home shit goes smoothly tomorrow to avoid adding new wrinkles to this saga
Answering that question is.pandoras box. The most likely impact will be internal. Let's say sao Paulo desk is covering the new york desk, there may be trade misbookings, which fucks which fucks the firms risk postion, and causes the desk to have to cover with unfavorable tradesWhat wrinkles could those things add?
Here's abetter answer. The storm is unlikely to affect retails investors. But if it were to do so, my guess would be that it relates to a firm having tech issues with its software, and limited IT coverage in houseWhat wrinkles could those things add?
Maybe we’re not dorks, though I do like watching the GameStop chick blow someone in the work bathroom
I must not have.Oh, don’t wtf me, have you never seen it?

In terms of it affecting retail investors, I can't speculate. Cuase I was always dealing with other brokers and dealers.
But I do know that thin staffing causes issues. And I'd imagine that the same applies to an online brokerage. But something like robinhood may not even be housed in nyc. And on top of that, their step in the process is more systematic. The terminals processing trades won't go down on their end
But who knows. In theory, the weather could affect sell side bid/ask spreads maybe? And if so, that indirectly affects retail investors
Have you seen the relatively new HBO show called Industry? They do a very good job of representing the energy. Culture, and personalities on a trading floorSo when you say desk.....
Gotcha, ThanksHave you seen the relatively new HBO show called Industry? They do a very good job of representing the energy. Culture, and personalities on a trading floor
If not, picture a big room. The entire floor is an equity trading floor. It will look like just a bunch if rows of long physical desks. But within all those people, there are groupings of 4 to 10 people who are considered a "desk." Lets say a domestic (usa) large cap trading "desk" or team. A foreign mid cap trading desk. Yadda yadda.
Yeah actually it's just a term for a "team" that covers a specific type of product. Usually an MD or 2. A could EDs, a couple VPs, and an associate and analyst or two
(Managing director, executive director, vice president, associate, analyst... which goes from total baller MDs, to 1st year out of school "analyst" level newbies)
