My issue was her putting her privilege first instead of just telling her story. I don’t say “I’m a mildly attractive white woman” before I talk about my domestic abuse.

My point was that she doesn't have any privilege if she's experiencing that kind of abuse. Unless we're all going to pretend that people letting you cut in line at Starbucks is somehow a better life attribute than not being groomed and then abused.
Also, it sucks you experienced domestic abuse, I hope things are sorted out for you now.

I get what you are saying, I just didn’t like the way her statement was worded. Her experience is horrible; I feel for what she went through, especially because I can relate to it, but that’s what I want her to share with the world. Domestic violence is something that impacts not just those living in lower class conditions, but even those who you least expect. Again, I think my issue was really just with the way it was worded, not her experience.

I think it's 2 sides of the same coin to be perfectly honest. Privilege is a fictional thing, and people who invoke are the same kinds of people who say stupid shit like she did. Ironically declaring oneself to be beautiful and that they are privileged is probably about the least self aware thing a person can do.

Things are mostly sorted, by the way. We are both lucky in that we were able to escape our situations, there are so many women and men who can’t say the same.
And I got my son in my case so I feel very fortunate and lucky.
