Pitchers and Catchers have reported for all 30 teams. Most teams have full squads reporting on Monday.

  • The plan is for a full 162 game season
  • It looks like the NL is dropping the DH for 2021, likely bringing it back permanently for 2022.
  • Attendance for regular season games depends on local ordinances.
  • Doubleheaders will be 7 innings
  • Extra innings will start with a runner on 2nd base
  • Active rosters return to 26, expanding to 28 in September.
  • Road trips allow for (5) extra players so they are ready if a positive test effects the regular roster.
  • Playoff roster returns to only 5 teams per league (3 div winners, 2 wild cards)

Players and owners could agree to change the DH and playoff roster number before the season starts.
Owners want more playoffs, players want the DH.

2022 brings a new collective bargaining agreement, so both sides are being stubborn.

Opening Day: April 1

Some big moves this year.

Tatis just getting 340 mill. Nolan getting moved to the Cards. Etc etc etc.

Dodgers still primed to be the best in the NL and the AL should depend on the health of the Yankees.

Al depends on whether the rays stay healthy as they whipped the Yankees last year and will punish them again

Your hatred of the Yankees is showing.

Losing Snell and Morton and having Chirinos out with Tommy John surgery is going to make it tough on the Rays this year.

I'm not counting them out because that team knows how to get guys to pitch way above what they've ever shown but giving up half of your staff is rarely going to be good unless you're bringing in studs to replace them.

Watching the Padres and Dodgers this year should be fun.
Both are going to be juggernauts.

If California holds their "zero fans" mandate, it will be interesting to see if MLB moves the CA WS games should one of those teams make it that far.

Or how about an Oakland vs LA/SD World Series with all games played in Arizona? Haha.

Pitchers having to bat keeps them from being even bigger cunts. Now they finna bean everyone who doesn't immediately lower their head and sprint around the bases when they hit a HR.

I'm going to be paying close attention to Tejay Antone this Spring.
6'4" 230 lb pitcher for the Reds who looked very nasty at times last season (only 14 appearances)

His spin rate is in the 98th percentile of all MLB pitchers.

Look at the bite on this thing:

That was always my stance, but I've lightened up a bit on it.
My biggest reason for keeping it is the strategy that it adds to the game.

AL managers basically just sit on their ass after handing in the lineup. The only thing they have to worry about is when to pull a pitcher.

First valid point you’ve made in a long time, never thought about it that way

The DH argument is also valid. Let's face it, a pitcher is never going to be a good hitter because they spend way too much time practicing their pitching form to even worry about their swing mechanics. So in the end it's a wasted at-bat for a team.

And why would they work on hitting anyway? There's a 50% chance they'll play for a team on which they won't have to bat except in inter-league away games.

I personally prefer having pitchers bat because of the reason I mentioned and the manager strategy reason Hauler @Hauler mentioned. But the AL isn't going to drop the DH, so it's probably a doomed concept.

Same. Reds allowing 30% capacity - so about 12,000 / game.

I will definitely be taking in some games this year.
