If it makes sense to pull the troops out then do it, but the end date should be based on when military personnel think it can be safely executed - picking Sept 11 as the date is a tacky PR move.
Picking 911 was definitely tacky and poor taste.

Trumps plan was to have them all out by next month - I think?

Sad how each side criticizes the other plan when they are basically the same thing.

Republicans: use legal but unethical tactics to gain 6-3 court majority.

Also Republicans: cry when Dems respond by using legal but unethical tactics to gain 7-6 majority.
I read that the court was originally expanded to match the number of judicial districts. There are now 13 districts. Sooooo this would be following a precedent as well.

Lindsey Graham: Biden 'paving the way' for another 9/11 with Afghanistan withdrawal
"The likelihood of this happening again is going through the roof after President Biden's decision today," Graham said. "He's setting Afghanistan on a path to deteriorate rather quickly and for the enemy, radical Islam, to reconstitute. It can all be avoided with a minimal commitment compared to the past."
I appreciate his consistency.

So...now they have the majority?

Can't wait for the next Republican POTUS to expand it to 17 to get the majority back.

Responsible leadership.
The Republicans brought this on themselves. They refused to even hold a hearing on Merrick Garland's nomination because it was an election year, but then they fast-tracked Barrett's approval in an election year before they could lose the White House and the Senate.

I don't see them gaining a majority in both houses and gaining the presidency in the next 4 years, so by the time they have gained both those things, their asses will no longer be sore.

I think what they did was politically savvy, but it was also dishonest and unethical.

They fucked around, and now they're finding out.

This ignores the fact that Garland would not have received the votes needed. But you’re right the republicans should have torn him apart for a couple weeks then voted no.

I don't know enough about Garland to agree or disagree with you, but I don't think it matters. SCOTUS justices are nominated/approved based on who sits in the WH and which party controls the Senate.

The ethical thing would have been not to consider Amy Coney Barrett's nomination until after the election. It also would have been the stupid thing to do. Not only would it risk not being able to stack the court in their favor, but the Republicans didn't know who was going to win the Presidential election or who was going to control the Senate in January. No one knew.

If the Republicans had won even one of the Georgia run-offs, we wouldn't be having this conversation. It was very close, but they lost both seats.

I'm not throwing shade on Republicans for doing what they did. The Garland/Barrett decisions were the smartest decisions for the party.

I'm just saying the crying about stacking the court is hypocritical.

But if a party has the ability to change majority in the Supreme Court, the precedent has been set.

Nice to see that the bill is sponsored by Hank Johnson of Georgia. He's the genius who thought the island of Guam was in danger of capsizing due to us sending too many troops there.

Shows you the level of intelligence of the people making decisions for our nation. Dude is dumber than a box of rocks.

The Dems will never win a SC case with the current make-up.

President Biden is Yoda and VP Harris is Luke Skywalker.

They're just restoring balance to the universe.

Remembering that all things are relative, I don't think of Obama in the same light as I do Trump, Biden, Dubya or Bubba.
Why not?
Because he was a good orator? So was Hitler.

Obama had some very flawed policies that we are still suffering from. He wasn't a good president.

Best President of my lifetime.

Second-best of your lifetime because you were alive for Kennedy.
