Anheuser Busch (BUD) down 7% early.
Trading at about a 50% rebate prior to the drop.

Sin stocks are usually good bets during a recession.
Price at time of post: $40

Today: $74

Watching because they have earnings today.

LMAO @ this ridiculous beat by BlueLinx

Screenshot_20210507-053121_Webull.jpg

Expected EPS of $2.09; reported $6.28
And beat on revenue by $170 million with a reported $1.03 billion, which is up 56% from Q1 2020.

BlueLinx makes their own EWP (engineered wood products) and they are a distributor of building materials (composite decking, lumber, plywood, etc). When the market does nothing but go up for a year distrubutors and wholesalers do extremely well. They buy at market price, and when it arrives they sell at the new market price plus their typical adder.

Printing money.
Stock is already up huge from the Covid Collapse.

This market has to be unsustainable right? I mean, stock prices are absurd right now.

I'm very leary of the ones that have outpaced their pre-Covid trajectory.

And I joke about the Biden Slide, but if he gets the corporate rate he's after it will likely stunt growth. The market looks for constant growth. If that goes away, so does the upward trend - at least for a little bit.

I don't think we collapse, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a return to the 29k/30k level off of our current $34,700k . So like a 14 to 16% pullback.

More and more states are legalizing gambling. Saw a report that Ohio is currently considering it and there is bipartisan support. This goes back to my weed play - states will be looking to capture as many dollars as possible that they lost from the Covid business shutdowns.

DraftKings (DKNG) has a sportsbook up and running on their app, but it can only be used in states where it is legal. As states legalize, their customer base grows overnight at zero additional software cost.

The stock ran from the $10 range in March 2020 up to $75, then it pulled back to it's current level just below $50. It wouldn't shock me to see it at $100+ in a year or so.

They spend a TON in advertising that digs into their profits, but as a platform I think it's a winner long-term.

Predictably - RFP is down 7% today to $15.48

After this pullback, I'm thinking we start the climb to $20.
Screenshot_20210507-130130_Webull.jpg

It fell to $13. Back to teasing $16.
23% in 10 days.

I love when a stock behaves exactly as you expect it to.

If you are wondering why your portfolio looks like shit today - the expected 1 million new jobs in April ended up being 266,000

And March's numbers were lowered from 916,000 to 770,000

Biden still saying it has nothing to do with people being paid to not work. Why? Because he's a fucking idiot.

I'm selling some positions. Feels very toppy. If the labor supply isn't fixed - which they don't appear in a hurry to do - we're going to stall out.

Keeping lumber and established dividend stocks with decent yields. For now.

After we pull back 10 to 15 percent I'll look at getting back in.

we have hired the bare minimum at our mill, 28 people have left this past year they hired back 8. tells me a couple things they are greedy as fuck or they dont expect these prices to stay this inflated for long.

Interesting.

Are they actively trying to hire more and people won't come back or are they operating with fewer shifts / skeleton crews? Or are they not getting enough logs to keep a full staff busy?

Weird times, man.

Well the company is shit, mostly greed I believe. They do not have the best reputation especially here on the coast. Poor drug policy against pot, even worse hours, the ask is getting more and more everyday currently shifts are running 10 hours and producing like 800,000bfm which is nearly double our output from 1.5 years ago

He's not an idiot. He's corrupt, likely blackmailed & compromised, and following the playbook he's been given.

I gotta think mills are doing everything they can to make as much as they can at these levels. We're literally triple compared to a year ago. It would take a lot of discipline to purposefully starve the market of supply.

Futures were limit down both days this week - which means people think we're reaching the top. But you still can't find cash wood so that typically stalls out a futures drop which then further strengthens cash.

Going to be interesting to see where this goes over the next month or so.
