Serious question for you or anyone else that wants to answer.

If I know I'm exposed to COVID everyday that I work, is it ethically okay for me to go into a public place without a mask on?
Fuck yes

Do your community a favor and nip that fear in the bud

Do your damn part

I'm up here killing people with a friendly smile every chance I get...Even though many places don't require masks any longer 90% aren't taking theirs off yet...They need a leader besides our governor and Joel "mask on in the corner alone" Biden

that's a complicated answer, and it depends on a lot of situational factors.

anyone who answers with a simple "yes" or "no" is just exposing their Identity Politics.

or people who don't want to take a vaccine which is only administered because of an EUA, which would be about 40% of those eligible
If people choose not to be vaccinated because of that, that's up to them. Not the government. The government isn't their parents.

Even if I agreed with you, that's counter to your initial point.

my point was that no one is being 'forced' to get the vaccine.

If they were actually forcing people to be vaccinated, that's who they would be protecting.

At least one member here has been told that if they aren't vaccinated they'll be fired from their job. That strikes me as "forced".

and I thought it obvious, that I was pointing out that the only thing they'd be protecting people from is them making decisions for themselves.

that's not being forced, that's the exhilaration you experience in an open market of free association.

go buy your sprawling 40 acres and live off the land.

Nip what fear in the bud? The fear that I could give someone a virus that might kill them?

I have been vaccinated. Not tested. No. Therein lies the problem. You can pass it on before you know you have it.
.
CDC says vaccinated protected people don't spread anymore, no?

That being said, America is in the enviable position where everyone who wants a vaccine can have one. If someone chooses to roll the dice with their health, that's their call, not yours.

If you know you are regularly exposed to it, I think it is your responsibility to get tested regularly. If you're regularly exposed to it due to your job, your employer should be providing those tests.

You should be doing whatever any reasonable person would do to protect yourself and others. The vast majority of the population is not regularly exposed to it and not high risk. If they are vaccinated, I have no problem with them not wearing a mask. Even if they aren't vaccinated, I have no problem with them not wearing a mask.

Vaccination is not a guarantee you won't get it or spread it. Not being high risk isn't a guarantee you won't get it or spread it. Neither is wearing a mask or social distancing. All of those things simply make it less likely. It is up to you to be a reasonable person and do what you think is appropriate based on you lifestyle and risk level. You don't know what those are for other people, so you shouldn't try to impose that decision on them. You do you.

Whether they say that or not, we know it isn't true. It is not 100%. We know there are cases where young healthy people who have had it (so have antibodies) and have been fully vaccinated have caught the virus and those around them on a regular basis have also caught the virus.

The vaccine manufacturers say they are 90-whatever percent effective, so they are 10-ish percent not effective, and that's relative to the strains they have tested (more rapidly than normal) against. LOL @ the CDC being in a position to know that.

It's a personal decision everyone needs to make based on the best information available and how that fits into their life. I have no problem with that.

Oh, I don't think the CDC is the be all and end all, but they're the authority that the government has decided makes the rules. Covid is never going away, that's the reality people need to come to grips with.

This is what the CDC website says right now:

What We Are Still Learning
  • We are still learning how well vaccines prevent you from spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to others, even if you do not have symptoms. Early data show that vaccines help keep people with no symptoms from spreading COVID-19.
  • We are also still learning how long COVID-19 vaccines protect people.
  • We are still learning how many people have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 before the population can be considered protected (population immunity).
  • We are still learning how effective the vaccines are against new variants of the virus that causes COVID-19.

I think they've made value judgments about acceptable risk. I think when they lied to everyone about masks at the beginning, that shows a certain type of value judgment. I think when the democrats pretended everyone was safe and rolled the dice on that just to go against Trump they made a value judgment. Just like when Trump changed his tune and started encouraging the economy to open up again he made a value judgment.

Tldr, I don't think the guidelines are entirely based on medicine
