Well the thing is........ there are checks and audits already built into the system. Everything gets checked and confirmed regardless. For a start, a result for a state or county that falls within a certain margin of error (generally half a percent, I believe) triggers an automatic full recount. This wasn't the first close election, others have been MUCH closer (and much shadier in terms of the outcome - Kennedy in '60 and Dubya in 2000 being the two notable examples).
This isn't an audit. They aren't looking for truth. If it's a real audit and not an anti-democracy illegal power grab, then there's no audio recording of the President pressuring the Georgia Secretary of State to "find 11,000 votes" so that he could be declared the winner of the state. He's on tape telling the Georgia SoS that "I won Georgia by hundreds of thousands of votes" and that is simply the delusional tantrum of a spoiled child who has never, ever been told "No" and then been unable to buy and/or bullshit his way into getting what he wants anyway.
The thing is - it literally is just lies and delusion, all the way down. They are NOT saying "we just want to make sure it was fair and legitimate". They are simply crying and throwing tantrums until they get the outcome they want. Which isn't going to happen, because their grievances are not reality-based - simple as that. The "Stop the Steal!" crowd fall into one of two categories - cynical deception, or genuine delusion. If what they allege was true, then their lawyers would be arguing it in court. Instead, the lawyers are explicitly saying in court that they are NOT alleging massive fraud. Because if you're a lawyer, there are professional consequences for lying to a judge and wasting the court's time, and they don't want to face that.
But what they can do, is throw enough bullshit into the air that genuine people like you can sincerely ask "but aren't they just asking for a free and fair election, what's wrong with that?"
Well unfortunately, the reality is that it's more than half a year later, there's no fraud, and the MAGA crowd is now reduced to screaming about Italian satellites and Chinese bamboo fibres.
Always remember that the same faked "massive fraud" ballots that were apparently changed to rob Trump of victory....... were NOT changed to prevent the GOP from picking up seats in the House. The same piece of paper.
Long post, but the reality is, the only fraud here is coming from the cunts who are preying on vulnerable people to get them to reach into their pockets and send money to these grifters.
