I'd also argue that $16/hr in DC is like $10/hr in the heartland.
And $10 per hour in the heartland is above minimum wage.

If he's fully staffed why is he getting "100s of applications per job"?

Glad he's going well, but I also don't discount the fact that this dude might be a Lib honk talking out of his ass just to stop the noise.

I might call some of his locations on Monday and get some feedback from actual workers.
The opened a dozen new locations over the last year with 15 more scheduled to be opened over the next year.

With 51 locations, I’m sure you will hear employees calling bullshit if he is talking out his ass.

So they are making that magical $15+/hr but they're all living in a single BR apartment with 5 other dudes because rent in the area is so high.
It gets better:

Employees working at &pizza are entitled to benefits such as paid leave for activism and healthcare, Lastoria said.
Anyone else think Trump rallies probably don't count?

What does that have to do with our job shortage/wages/benefits discussion?

If you can’t admit this is a good example of a company paying a fare wage and prospering through the recession and worker shortage, then this discussion wasn’t as honest as I thought… the ongoing discussion has been around worker shortages and the reason behind them.

LMAO @ paid leave for activism.
That's gonna be an HR nightmare, because like it or not - you can't really pick and choose what employees want to be "active" about. That whole "goose and gander" thing.

You should ask the employees if it’s caused any kind of issues when you call them on Monday. As, it seems an assumption is being made that the employer is trying to censor specific kind of activism in anyway.

My argument is $16 in DC is the same as $10 here. So it's not really a fair wage.

If he's telling the truth, I'm glad he's not having staffing issues. But dollar for dollar it doesn't make sense.

And they struggling for workers?
Yes.
Many of the fast food joints here are either closed or drive thru only. That's all due to staffing. So the $10/hr jobs are now $13+. I started seeing those signs about a week ago so we'll see if that's the sweet spot or if that rate will continue to climb.

You need to understand, that he doesn't have a basic grasp of the value of a dollar. He makes good money and lives far away from those dirty poor people.

That’s your argument today but I’m referring to our ongoing discussion around the worker shortage in America and how it is impacted by the continuance or cutting of employment benefits.

I am not disputing the statement you made today.

And have the prices increased?

Does your White Castle burger now cost $17?

The assumption is an easy one.
I'm just saying it's a slippery slope.

If you give someone paid leave for a BLM rally, if another employee wants to go to a Young Republicans of America Rally (I don't even know if that's a thing) it could cause issues as we both know that's not what the benny is intended for.

Loud voices are only acceptable when being shouted about issues society and media have stamped as acceptable.

I say as long as they ain’t doing anything illegal or attaching the company name to the cause, have at it.

Funny how we have been disagreeing on a topic we have been discussing for weeks and neither of us have lobbed any insults… yet others feel the need to jump in with insults.

I'm saying his "fair wage" has nothing to do with his staffing success as it isn't that fair of a wage given the location. Unless everyone else in DC is still paying $10 and there are no other options. Maybe it's the activism side that brought the workers in. I have no idea. Either way, good for him for figuring it out.

It’s must be considered a fair wage if he has hundreds of potential employees applying for jobs whenever they open up a new location…. Especially when they were competing with those bennies.

A difference of opinion doesn't necessitate insults. I've enjoyed the discussion and have given your viewpoints serious thought.
