No, it doesn't meet the "definition of tyranny".

For a start, the democratically elected leader, (who won re-election last year in a historic-level landslide, primarily due to her covid response) has a popular mandate.

Second, though the lockdown may seem oppressive to some, it is FAR from unjustified given what we've seen in the rest of the world.

Third, in the three hours since you posted that at 5am NZ time, that single case has become five cases of community transmission. All confirmed to be the Delta variant, which we had not found anywhere in the country until yesterday. Do you understand how exponential spread works? Should we wait until we have 500 cases before we start to talk about maybe taking precautions and trying to stamp it out of the country? What's YOUR plan?

Fourth, until today I hadn't been in lockdown, worn a mask, been required to social distance or been restricted from any form of public gatherings for well over a year. Aside from the lack of tourists, it's been normal life here for more than a year. That is because the government locked down early and hard as soon as covid was discovered in New Zealand. That's why we've had 25 deaths, instead of 600. It's also why our ICUs haven't been overwhelmed, and why we've been essentially living normal life.

Fifth, good job at expressing pleasure that an allied country has found the Delta variant loose in the community after over a year of being essentially covid-free. Many thousands of New Zealanders will suffer, and you are actively happy about that because you don't like a faceless Internet stranger that you'll never meet. Now you finally have the chance to make a smug, snarky, bitchy post at me about New Zealand's covid response. What a sad little man.

When I heard that the one case was likely the Delta variant, I knew there would be more positive cases.

Everyone did who isn't a fuckwit troll. ?

Now we'll lock down, like we did before, and hopefully once again we'll avoid having to mask up, close all the restaurants and keep our kids home from school for the next year like most of the rest of the world has been doing.

As was previously explained to you, whether or not you feel it was justified, or whether or not the person doing it was democratically elected doesn't change what it is. Words have meaning even if the words makes you feel bad.

What's YOUR plan?
Give vaccines to anyone who wants them. Even countries that completely dropped the ball on vaccine acquisition have plenty for their entire population at this point I assume New Zealand would be in that position.

Fifth, good job at expressing pleasure that an allied country has found the Delta variant loose in the community after over a year of being essentially covid-free.
I most definitely didn't express any sort of pleasure. I think it's terrible that the vast majority of the country has to suffer because there's a handful of covid cases.

You're much lower on my personal hierarchy than you seem to think. Certainly not high enough for me to want an entire population to be subjected to those draconian measures. We have a bunch of Kiwi posters here and I feel awful they have to go through a full lockdown, poor ShatsBassoon @ShatsBassoon has barely been out of his holding tank for a month and now he's right back in.

About as ironic as 3 country's presidents that rejected covid WHO guidelines & all died.
It's an amazing coincidence.

In soviet Russia we call this "allergy season".
Thank god we live in America!

As always I have nothing really good to add to the thread but here is my research so far.

My neighbor who is 30 years older than me had the same jab I did with no side effects.

Me my daughter and her 3 friends had it (Astrazeneca) the same day and all 5 of us had the same issues

Sore muscles
Headache
Chills
Nausea

So different strokes for different folks for some reason....My neighbor doesn't have a 5g phone though....

That last sentence was a lie.

But that's my research.

Its accepted that if you have a reaction to the first az jab you have more than likely caught a dose previously.

So you've all probably had it.

Rejoice. You are the 99.7‰

You are not special. But you are alive. And that's what counts.

My friend is a paramedic (Not that his opinion counts)

That last sentence was a lie.

He said if the first dose fucked me the second dose should be much easier....Really looking forward to my 5th one.

That first one was horrible though....Really sucked it out of me.

The idea of doing this a 3rd, 4th or 5th time doesn't sound like something I'm interested in.

Completely agree man...I've never had a flu jab in my life...This was necessary for my family to be together...I also don't want to make anyone else sick.

Each to their own.
I get the flu jab every year (even though I know statistically it's not very good) but the Mrs. works with young children and before that I had an old as fuck grandmother and a young nephew so we both went and got it. Never any real side effects. This was a different animal though, and now that they're telling us you spread it even if you're vaxed and they don't know how long it lasts for? Sweet fuck, man.

Either way, glad to hear you're feeling better and that you and mom will be back together soon.

Glad you're feeling better broseph matey.

The 3rd-5th jabs shouldn't be a problem, but the 6-9th may see a bumpy ride.
Not saying I know how the government calls 'em, but the 10th-14th make you feel squishy inside.

No I'm sorry but he's wrong. Edit. Just re read. He's right.

The first one if you've had it knocks you a bit for a couple of days. Second one is pretty much nothing.

I believe the Pfizer is opposite but can't vouchsafe for that.

Over here we've all had az pretty much and the results are in.

You had a dose your first jab affects you. You haven't had a dose the second one does

I'll be interested to hear your conclusions but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

What you said is exactly what he said.

Pfizer is opposite.

The mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) are the same. If you've had covid, the first dose fucks you hard. If you haven't, the first dose is a relative breeze.

The second dose is only bad for people who haven't had covid.

I never had covid to my knowledge (never got sick and never tested positive in 4 or so tests). The first dose (Moderna) only gave me a sore arm. The second dose fucked me up for a few hours.

My uncle had covid and the first dose of Pfizer gave him flu symptoms for about 24 hours. Second dose nothing.
