I guess it depends on how they're written. I'm not real familiar with either of them. However, I do recall reading that BB can literally destroy a planet. So, if they are face to face and BB lets it NHB rip, I'm not positive that Thanos would survive. Looking forward to what the experts have to say in this thread.

This Thanos love is out of control, and what's with the get up? Modernize that shit already.

Can't stand Thanos but given their powersets, it's not close. Thanos has energy and matter manipulation powers, plus telepathy, teleportation and magic (aside from Hulk level strength and durability). With his super alien level genius intellect, he could easily use those powers to find a way to defeat Black Bolt.

Ugh.

:smilingimp: I have a love for anything associated with darkness or anything with Black in it. The Dark Side of the force, Black bolt, Dark Matter, Black Panther, Black coffee, Black Plague, Black Holes, Black Ice, Blackouts, OhWhopDaChamp @MelE5150, they're all lovely in their own special way. But being a fan of everything dark means I have to side with the one who loves the ultimate form of darkness - Death. So I'm with Thanos on this one.

I remember reading comics 20 years ago and I could have sworn him and surfer were pretty even....now it's like every time I read these threads, the guy is basically untouchable.....and the get up, it's just so f'n camp.

Thanos is another cheesy OP Marvel character. Being so ridiculously overpowered just facilitates lazy and unimaginative writing, so I don't expect it to change any time soon.

Yeah, he was always very powerful. At least on par with Silver Surfer. He's collected a couple of cosmic devices, granting him temporary omnipotence (Cosmic cube, & Infinity gems). That power isn't all removed when the object is taken away. Essentially a cosmic level power up. He's died a couple of times, been resurrected by mistress death, & granted some of her cosmic power. Another cosmic level power up. He's been chosen by Oblivion (Another cosmic being) to be tha avatar of death.

What's the value in creating a character that leveled up?

The reason is to have a super villain that is stronger and more powerful than our heroes, so we get team ups and the heroes can go "all out"

Its also why I hate superman

In general Thanos wins more often from my memory. I remember Thanos withstanding Black Bolt's voice several times in from various versus and respect threads. In addition, the recent What If? about the Inhumans conquering Earth has Black Bolt needing to work with Dazzler to beat Thanos.

Thanos' power set is much more formidable, and that's not even accounting for his tech, skills, or intelligence.
