When i was backpacking the west coast of the US years ago, i remember getting into a debate with a racist, bigoted old man from florida in the hostel kitchen. We were in San fran and the gay pride festival was on at the time, and he was muttering under his breath about 'all these f*ggots everywhere'.....I told him, maybe it was a bad idea to stay in a hostel, in san fran, during gay pride. After that he just went onto a rant about gay people, then black people, seriously, as a brit, living at the time in multi-cultural city of london, I was gobsmacked, felt very surreal. I usually have lots of respect for my elders but he crossed the line. I know the generation gap can play a small part in some narrow minded opinions but he was a complete tosser.
Anyways, I'm only joking about florida peeps, but my sole interaction IRL with someone from there wasn't exactly the most pleasant. You seem lovely though. haha
